BEHIND the SCENES at ...

Thornrose Castle

For those PlaymoFriends who have visited Thornrose Castle, we thought that you might enjoy some "behind the scenes" photos. If you still haven't taken the "tour" through Thornrose Castle, click HERE!

The first two pictures show a close-up of Roger and Alice's nest home!
(Oh, yes! That is indeed David "fiddling about" in the background!) ...  :klickygrin:

These two photos may show a bit more detail of Thornrose Castle then perhaps some of the images did in our original "tour" topic.

Sometimes it's interesting to see the "scale" of things.

In these three pictures, that show David snapping away with his camera, everyone should be able to get some idea of the size of Thornrose Castle.

Thornrose Castle was built as a "romantic" castle. And, attention to the esthetics of a fairy tale design was far more important to the creators, than building a massive war-time fortress!

Hi Richard

Unlimited amount of stecks? Do not get me wrong, I remember you saying you ran out of time but that is not what I expected. It is a beautiful castle and your collection and condition is unmatched but it just seems like you might need to have a new play-date with more time. I would put on the coffee pot extra strong or pop open some fermented grape juice and lets see it all  :lol: I do like how you did not create one of those weird castles that went to the ceiling. Your floor space seems open enough, so what I am getting at is Please Richard oh please show us some day what can be created with what I assume to be a very large collection of pristine classic Playmobil Knights  :prays:

Holy moly, that castle is huge!!  :lens::(o):  Seeing how completely it fills a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood really brings home what you are up against when trying to build in this scale. Thank you Richard for the sobering photos.

Hi Richard

We must have been typing at the same time. Again your castle is stunning and like you said you were going for an esthetically correct and romantic design and you in my opinion you hit the nail on the head. From you original post I guess I got really excited to see some sprawling castle with all kinds of Playmobil treasures that I think you have. I wish I had a friend to come over and help me design a castle with my limited amount of stecks. Designing a castle is not as easy as it looks.

Thanks, Gepetto! ... Guess it's all in the "eye of the beholder" ... as Ras seems to have been hoping for something a bit larger ...  :klickygrin:

And, David and I found that out when we started putting together our "Sleeping Beauty" castle! Even though there's all the Steck that's needed, there's still the limitation of the Playmobil parts. So, the "castle design" is really restricted by the "design of the Playmobil parts" ...  It's a great challenge and a lot of fun, if you have a few free weeks!
