Plant Growth
« on: February 19, 2010, 19:11:29 »
A while back on another thread Mum posted the growth progress of our playmoplant - the fire-root. Sven's green-fingered tips - dusting it and keeping it out of sunlight (and watching out for monkeys!) were a great help and we have been observing and taking pictures of out plant's progress in growing.

About two weeks later...

However, Mum is still dusting and dusting and dusting and.....
Look at it now!
  :o :o :o

The cats seem to like it though...

Thanks to Sven for his floral knowledge!  ;D ;D Here's a challenge: Can anyone grow one taller than this?!  8}

 :lol: Very Good!

I wonder how it smells when it flowers? You know some of these freaky plants smell like rotten eggs...

I can't prove this as it is still a bud at the moment, but I guess it would smell like burning wood... I'll tell you when it flowers. It must be close to blooming as I can see smoke escaping out of the bud...

Hi Junior

That is a great looking custom plant. Is the center flower stock the center of the spiky cactus-ish plant? When you first showed us I thought you painted the fire stick green.

We have this beautiful dark purple flower that has equally beautiful leaves that is called Dracunculus vulgaris (Voodoo Lily; aka, Dragon Lily, or Dragon Arum ). It smells like a dead animal rotting and it really attracts the flies .

Amazing really cool, and very well done!
You might want to take some steps back before it blooms though...
Being a fire plant it could explode!!! :o
Steck is BACK! <:>

Dusting and dusting ...

I've never tried that with plants.

It seems to really make them grow ...  :o

I'm, going to have to try that with my plants tomorrow ...  8}

Thanks for the tip, Junior ...  :toot:

All the best,
Richard

This is great!   :lol:  I didn't realize how many Playmo-horticulturists there are in this forum!

You should send these pics to Sven.  Perhaps he will make mention of it in his show.  Maybe he'll let Torvald do a "letters to the show" segment (That should be safe.  Poor Torvald, always attacked by monkeys, gorillas, butterflies, birds, etc.).

Hi Skypurr Jr.

That is a great looking plant :wow:
It reminds me of our Century plant out here in sunny Arizona.

Best regards,
Jimbo
