Canopy
« on: January 10, 2010, 22:40:50 »
Has anyone ever tried to clean the cloth canopy - [30 88 2430] - that goes over the market stalls?  I am hesitant to try anything because it seems like any type of water solution would melt the whole thing.  It doesn't feel like paper, but also doesn't feel like cloth.  Thanks in advance!

Hi
I've gotton a canopy wet before now and it didn't melt but I've not tried to clean one. My older ones have gone yellow from the sunlight so i don't think I could clean that one up. I do know you can order new ones from Playmobil. I got some last year they were £1.50 each plus shipping.

I have ordered it every time I place a DS order and never received one.  Patience, I guess!

I wouldn’t as a general rule, but if you absolutely insist…
Try getting a new tent (what maybe roman General or something). Try hand-washing this using a mild soap (baby soap, if you’re in no hurry and/or already have some). Let it air-dry flat. And let us know how that comes out…
If I’m jealous, you did SOMETHING right. Keep it up. :D

I've tried gentle washing of sails with no problem; hand wash and flat dry.

The canopy is of the same fabric as the pirate ship sails. And the ships are designed for being played with in water.
I would say it is definitely more cloth than paper.  :)
They are pretty robust against water and stay in shape. I cleaned several of those (well, more sails and roman tents than canopys).

Still, I would not tumble it. So warm water with mild soap and flat dry would be my suggestion also.
