Hi from Maine-
« on: December 31, 2009, 13:49:11 »
Hello all, I'm another Playmoboard refugee from the snowy coast of Maine, USA.
Been a huge playmobil fan since the early days of the 1980's when I got my first set, the construction truck.  I now have enormous amounts and the space in my basement to set it up.

I'm married with a wife who supports my little addiction, and I am in the process of introducing the kids to the wonder-  My daughter is two, and has a sizable collection of 123 sets, though the boy, at 7weeks, is still a bit young to understand how cool playmobil is.  He'll learn.
I'm a clinical social worker working in a residential program for boys with significant emotional and behavioral problems, and I have been known to use playmobil in therapy.

That's about it, glad to be here.  Cheers!

Hi Coyote!

Welcome! I'm just a few days new myself and have really been enjoying the board. :)

Your field of work is very interesting... and how sweet that you can use playmobil sometimes to help you along in your work.

Happy New Year!!! :cham:

Hi Coyote, nice to see you again!     That's a neat 123 setup your daughter has there.  Is it a commercially available product or your own creation?

Hi Ed!

Welcome from snowy Scotland!  :snowman:

I love the way you have set up the 1-2-3 on a playtable for your little girl. The edging all around is a very practical idea. My twins had a lot of pre-school Playmo sets when they were little but it is all packed away in the loft now.

Thanks for introducing yourself. Hope to read a lot more from you around the forum! :D

Welcome Coyote!

That looks a great set-up for your daughter, and she's clearly enjoying it!

I envy your opportunity to develop playtime with both a daughter and a son over the coming years through Playmobil. Better stock up on sets now, so your children don't miss out!

cheers,  Martin

Thanks for the welcome!
The 123 table is just a set from TRU I think-  it came with a bunch of cheap trains which I ditched, and have replaced with the 123.  Mags loves it.

Jeremy- I'm mainly a cognitive behavioral therapist- I find it works well with the population I work with, and fits well with my personality.  I also use a modified version of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which is greatly simplified and works well for group therapy with the boys.
My use of playmobil is limited, more for some relaxation and diversion while meeting, though I recently (somewhat successfully, I think) used the new deep sea diver as a metaphor to talk to a kid about the ways he protected himself from abuse as a young child has become an impediment for him now-  Diver's armor keeps him safe under the water, but keeps him from functioning on land unless he takes it off...
Anyway, playmobil is my therapy-  I look forward to the day when my little ones can play with my "real" collection without fear of ingestion.
Cheers!
