My wife and I have just 11 days until we fly out of the UK for the forseeeable future, and the last of our worldly possessions, barring what we can carry with us or are leaving behind, are packed and ready for collection by a shipping company on Monday.

I finally have two large empty rooms where I could set up massive Playmobil layouts, and almost no Playmobil to lay out! I have about ten staunch Romans left in my luggage, until I arrive in Eugene.

Big thanks to Tiermann and Gepetto, two Oregon Playmofriends of whom I expect to see more soon, for their help and welcomes!

   How exciting that you get to embark on such an adventure . Now if you planned how the containers are to be delivered correctly you will be getting your Playmobil before all the furniture arrives and you will be in a new empty house with all those Klickies  ;)

We'll certainly have rooms before we have furniture, but it's not that easy planning the shipping of our stuff. We have to be here in the UK to send it, to answer any questions, supervise packing etc, and we have to be in the US when it arrives for customs purposes. It takes about 35 days for the stuff to be packed for shipping and actual journey, while we will only be 2 days travelling, so for a month we'll be in almost empty rooms - though we've been like that this end too for quite a while. 

We'll have a small rented apartment at first, and an actual house purchase hinges on the sale of our London house, something mostly out of our control now.

I hope everything runs smoothly with the big move and that all of your boxes make it safely and quickly to their destination.

This brings back a few memories of when I moved from Australia to here. We lived for about 18 months with just basic things and most of our personal stuff in storage, because we didn't have room for all of it in the flat we were renting. It was wonderful to finally get everything back again. :)

I've gone through what you're doing now and send you best wishes for a smooth move.

Is space for a major Playmobil town a consideration in your house purchase?  Whenever I watch those real estate shows on TV like House Hunters the first thing that I check out is if any room is appropriate for my town ;D.  Let's see, if I were them I'd put the shelving for the Playmoboxes there, the train tracks go here, the ships and vehicles go here, this room is too narrow, this room is just right, too much sun (don't want to fade the figures), not enough sun, ceiling too low (for the castle towers), ceiling too high, etc.

It will be eventually. My wife and I have both had hobby rooms here, but quite small, so we're planning to have bigger hobby rooms when we have a new house. The plan is that the whole house will be much more spacious than the one we're living behind - though with nothing in it now except a bed, couch, TV, table, 4 chairs, and our suitcases, somehow it seems more spacious than once it was.

Best of luck on your journey and on the shipping of your possessions.  This can be a stressful time, but hopefully all goes smoothly.  I definitely think you and your klickies will enjoy the size of "American rooms" compared to that of their UK counterparts. ;)
