In the UK the practice is to cover them with a yellow canvas(?) cover when in use.

Very intresting Gordon! I haven't seen that being done here yet. Do they change the cover when exchanging the spent air bottle with a fresh one, or do all of the spare air bottles have covers already on them  ????

Hi Bill,

The spares are without a cover and are slipped into it when changing.

When the metal tanks were popular they were very heavy! Now they have composite tanks that are considerably lighter, but more fragile, which is why the canvas covers are becoming more popular for protection.
