Playmobil City Fire Department assigned engines.
« on: May 05, 2009, 15:40:45 »
After recently starting to downsize my Playmobil City Fire Department engine fleet from 32 to the target 25 due to a "formidable request", I decided to show a picture of the current engines assigned to PCFD districts 1 & 2 still in possession. The 3 3880 engines in the front of the photo are units that are currently being converted into heavy duty rescue units, & range in various process steps as shown due to waiting for parts from DS. The boxes in the rear of the picture are sets that are MIB waiting to be put into service if needed. After selling a couple of engines, I've found another box with 11 hidden away, & that makes my engine fleet up to 30 again  :woohoo:!

I hope you enjoy the photo.

BTW, I'm putting my find of 11 back in their hiding place for protection! Gotto go!

 Ah yes, the "formidable request"! That is still a very impressive fleet you have there Bill (and never refer to something as 'extra' or 'spare', that is like blood in the water)!

I know!  You can say that the PCFD had to downsize because of city budget problems because of the recession!  Even Playmobil City is affected!

After intense budget justification meetings with the Playmobil City budget committee, it is agreed that Playmobil City has been fortunate to have witnessed lower insurance ratings due to the vast equipment @ their disposal. The quest to reduce the number of engine companies with in the PCFD will cease until further notice  ;D! (Plus, I found a new hiding spot!)

Two nice line ups, Bill, and clever of you to have a hideaway.  But if you've just found another 11, did that mean that at one time you had 43 (32+11)?

I have to confess Gordon! I thought I had 32 to start out, but couldn't find all of them in the storage building. It was driving me crazy, & I had just about given up, because moving things around, or asking for help to rearrange items has been difficult due to obvious health reasons! Then when the thought that all was lost seemed the only reality, ta duh! The missing box with the 11 appeared making the current count 30 after selling 2 that were not to my standards. SOOOO, there are 30 currently in the fleet @ this time as shown in the updated picture. This Playmobil design is my current favorite, so I just can't help myself  :-[!

I know how you feel, Bill.  The 3880 is a real Playmobil classic.  If I were confident enough in my modelling skills, I'd make up for the shortage of storage space by customising mine to have two storage lockers as in the attachment.  Another idea has been to make one and by fitting in a second, modified cab between the original cab and the rear body, having a version which would carry a crew of four.

Is there anything different between the 3880 and the 5716 versions, other than the uniforms of the firecrew?  I notice that the boxes are quite different designs.

Thank you leefert, & kaethe!

Gordon the only differences are the 3880, & 5716 item numbers on the left front white bumper label, & the right rear swing out door. Everthing is interchangable between the vehicles themselves. The equipment content is different also, & can be seen on the Playmodb site.
