At home I have two monitors side by side, and it's much brighter on the new big flatscreen one, but I guess I could set the monitor darker if I wanted.

Like Gepetto, it looks like a delicate print, I was thinking Japanese kimono, because that's what I'm more familiar with. Black instead of white for the pattern would make it stand out much more.

The background seems fine to me.   :)  I am viewing on a wide flat screen monitor and the color comes through as lemon yellow with a delicate pattern I can only describe as "wallpaper" which seems very appropriate.   ;)

The same here, I think it's fine the way it is!
Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

Too my monitores (the ones at the office and the ones at home) the background looks all nearly the same soft yellow.

Maybe you should check your monitor setting, Sylvia  ;)

That was the first thing I tried to do, but I couldn't find how to adjust the monitor's brightness or contrast at the time. Looked all over the display settings but missed finding the right tab.

I've managed to tweak it now and it has helped, I'm glad to say. ;D
