An Odd Train
« on: January 28, 2009, 01:17:56 »
Hello all, I have found a loco up for auction on ebay that doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before. It has red trim and detailing that the owner swears isn't custom work. I think it is...I have included the link in case anyone wants to check it out. Maybe this was an uncatalogued release? or a non-US release?

What's the point of going, if you can't get there on a train?

I wish he had better feedback  :(.  I'd consider bidding, but I'm not sure he really knows anything about the train at all.  It looks like the engine roof is the roof from a freight car cut in half  It certainly doesn't look black nor does it look like it has a curved edge from the pictures.  And the piston drive rods connected to the wheels don't look like stock rods either.

I have another question for you all. Not being a Playmobil electric train collector, did previous electric G scale Playmobil engines, & tenders have working lights as this one has as stated in this auction  ????
Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

Yes, all the electric G-scale playmobil engines had working lights.  And the 4052 set had working lights on the coal tender as well.  There is an exception, the "steaming mary" engine from set 4033 did not have a working headlamp as the locomotive is not powered, the coal tender has the motor and pushes the locomotive.

Yup, it's  a strange one Knight Train. It's my guess that someone did a lot custom work on it. It looks clean, and the additions look nice. I just don't trust the seller. He assured me that the train was "stock" and nothing had been done to it. Then, in a later e-mail, told me he didn't know anything about Playmobil trains.

At the current price this auction is worth it just for the two motor blocks and the box. I'll watch and see. If you pick it up could you let me know how it turns out?

Wow, that train went for $271.00.

I thought I put the auction pictures here so this thead still has meaning after the auction expires.

i bid on that one, but no too much, i just spend a considerable amount on trains since december...

i get the western train sealed for 280 on december, and to pay more than 200 on this one, is something crazy!!!

I think the price was way too high. The seller really wasn't clear on what he had. Also, the train is obviously modified in several areas. I hope the buyer knows what they are getting...

(of course I'm complaining, I wasn't the high bidder)

I just picked up the 3455, potter's house last week so I'm not too broken up about this one.

I started a new tread in shopping
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

Ok...
after accidentally splitting off more than I should have the first time, I think I have now done the merger correctly. :-[
