I agree, Das Boote, a great series; we saw it on BBC.

Awesome !!!
I am rather amazed by your woodcraft. Wish I was that handy  :wow:

BTW, 1942 - isn't that the second "happy time" ? That would be a great moment to depict a U-Boot captain.

Just out of curiosity - have you ever seen "Das Boote", Martin?

Not yet, must've missed the TV series when it was on. I've got the book, but never read that either. There's always more to learn.

If you have the chance, I would recommend it. It's available here on DVD for just an apple and a egg (as we say here) but it is ever so good !!!
An epic war-movie as a war-movie should be (IMHO) - frank and nothing glorious about it...

But then again - that's just me  ;)

Hi Little Jo,
Yup, it is all plywood and solid pine so far..I think some of the details will be plastic or metal...still pondering. :-\

Hi all...
The sub is modeled after a U-Boat like the one in "Das Boot".  I saw some of the
movie.  It was a bit gruesome though :(.  I am also using two books I have on the
subject, and waiting patiently for another.

Thanks for the great input..it keeps me inspired :yup:

Best regards,
Jimbo
