Playmobil City Fire Department @ large office building fire.
« on: November 20, 2008, 18:23:25 »
Playmobil City Fire Department is on the scene of a large office building fire with reported entrapment. The office building has been going through a reconstruction upgrade to add an in house fire alarm, & water sprinkler fire suppression system. The first, second, & third floors are vacant with the forth floor being occupied by Playmobil City Bank's business office. Also there is a day care provided for employees of the bank on the same floor. The construction company that won the bid for the renovations, is not a local company. Klicky City Construction is a reputable local company, but their bid was not low enough. The fire started on the third floor where a construction welder was welding pipe joints, & some welding slag landed on a pile of debris right before lunch time. While the workers were at lunch the fire got a good head start, & was discovered when the workers returned. When Playmobil City Fire Department was alerted, District 1 Station's 1,2,3, & District 2 Ladder Truck L235 responded. There was a report from the construction supervisor that he could not account for 2 of his workers, & thought they may be on the third floor. Search & rescue firefighting teams were assigned to check all four floors in the building for the missing workers. While that operation was being performed, Ladder Truck L135 was in the process of rescuing the forth floor bank office workers, & children from the day care center while an engine team worked on holding the fire back, & checking for hot spots in the ceilings. One by one the forth floor victims were rescued. Firefighters assisted the smaller children down L135's ladder, & then the adults, with one toddler being carried by a firefighter. This construction project had been inspected 2 days before this fire occured, with digital pictures documenting the progress by PCFD inspection teams. At that time there were no safety code violations.

The next thing that is heard over the radio's speakers is the one thing that all firefighters fear for one another............. L235 to headquarters we have emergency radio traffic.......headquarters to all units, stop all non emergent radio traffic on channel 5, we have a crew in distress.....go ahead L235 with your radio traffic, and advise your situation.......  TO BE CONTINUED

This story is going to be a series of 5 events. I am going to warn you that it is going to be sad at the end.

Great set up and photography Bill . I really like how you showed the firemen rescuing the "office workers" . They mostly  seem to be children so the investigation now begins into why so many children were working there  The CEO has to pay for those convertible sports cars parked out front somehow  :whip: . ( just my twisted sense of humor )

Your smoke machine seems to be doing the trick as the pictures are so realistic and the way you took them really is well executed .

It looks like you do the same thing as i do as regards to the orange firefighters . I use them as the equipment drivers and operators and the dark grey suits as the crew.
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

Tremendous photo story Bill! Rasputin is right about your smoke machine paying for itself, that smoke is a really wonderful effect.

It is amazing how much equipment you have displayed and how nicely it is deployed (isn't it incredible how much Playmobil is required to flesh out a story, especially on that scale) and your photos are first rate. Your wife must be out of town also

Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.

A truly stupendous setup and photostory, Bill.  Again, the detail is excellent such as the broken glass on the roadway, and you smoke machine does its job well.

Presumably the fire occurred on the annual "Bring your child to work day".

What did you use for the magnificent office building?  Is it an adaptation of a storage unit of some sort?

Hello Bill,

I am truly speachless :wow:. The attention to detail is allways first class. I have looked at all the pictures and found way to many little details that i liked to even start a list, i would be here untill this time tomorrow. I think a couple that stood out were the fire fighters checking the ceiling with the roof hooks, fire fighters handing over fresh BA cylinders and crews getting ready, the glass on the road was a big one for me (really liked that). See i said i wouldnt start a list and what do i do :D.
I hope the ending isn't too sad Bill ! I have only just recovered from watching the film Ladder 49. That goes on my All Time Greats but Won't (Can't) Watch Again list . I had tears in my eyes through 90% of that film and at the end of it i couldn't hold back any longer. I still couldn't speak 20 mins after the film had finished and there was dried tears and snot all down my vest, graphic description but you get the idea  ;D immense film but very sad !

Anyway i am rambling again :D i cant wait for the rest Bill !

Tim
PS: I love the smoke Bill !

I apologize that I accidently posted the pictures before I wrote the story  :-[! Now I hope the story clears up the confusion about the child labor laws  ;). The fogger machine was well worth the $25.00  ;D. You are correct regarding my personnel assignments. Thank you for the praise regarding the story!

Thank you Gepetto for the positive review! It dose take alot to do a photo story of this type, but i can only imagine how many knights or Romans are needed to have a formidable army  :P! Regarding my wife, she is not away, & she is not too thrilled about me taking up a whole room for this extended story series...........  MY WIFE.

Thank you Gordon, I'm glad you approve  ;D! I try to picture in my mind what scenes looked like back in the day, if you know what I mean  ;).  As I told Rasputin, I accidently posted my pictures before I typed the story so there were some issues that were not clear regarding the children  :-[. I custom made the building from a stackable storage shelving unit. I added a plexiglass front with white vinyl striping, & finally I tinted the inside of the plastic with automotive window tinting to hide the fogger or water reservoir with pump.
