I said this on another forum aswell, But is this the end of the trains? That would make me very unhappy. The fact that they are discontinuing the rails makes me think we will see a new system or no trains at all  :(

Hi,

i think this was not realy the end of the trains the Set:

The Set 4010 are not discontinued yet !



But the problem are , childs dont want to play modell trains , so Märklin, LGB etc. have many problems to sell there items.
The childs want to play PSP , Wii or use a PC or Laptop and Internet.
We live in the new media future so Modell trains are not more interesting.

that was sad but true.

Wow it seems like a lot  :'( I guess just as many new thing are in the pipe line but when you see half of the Romans most of the Trains and a lot of sets we just got a few months ago and some not even yet it really makes you aware how fast these companies need to move now  8} I guess here in the states we have one year to fill up on all these if they make it here at all ( soccer ) .

Thanks for the list , it helps prioritize the new purchases  :wow:

Perhaps it didn't sell as well as they thought it would. It isn't the first time things like this happens.
The Viking Longhouse didn't reach 1 year of production either and some Specials didn't even manage 6 months ...  :'(

The 4446 Gangster Hovercraft hasn't even appeared in the UK yet, so it's less than a year old. I've been waiting for this one so I can order the figures to make some camouflage guys.

I'm hoping this doesn't mean it'll never hit the UK shores.

The Romans - well they've been out for 3 years, and that seems the usual shelf life for non-gnereic historical themes. We all half-expected this, to make room for the Egyptians. One reason I stocked up on Romans. I could get a couple more battle towers maybe, but with my 250+ strong army, I wouldn't be buying many more of these sets.

The loss of the Rock Castle may be making room for a new type of castle, and a new design of knights. A shame to lose these colourful Red Dragon guys, who despite their historical inaccuracy make a nice villainous bunch (better then the purple Barbarians) but no knights last forever.

The upcoming Wolf Knights may be edging them out?

The items being discontinued should make it here and be available for the same length as time as in Germany.

What interests me is that with the end of 3182 the only fire-related items in the range are the new Special (4675) and the extension to the early fire station.  This surely means new fire sets in 2009 with a new turntable ladder in 2010.

I don't think that the shop I work at has sold one during the entire year.
