Pictures of My Work Room
« on: November 11, 2008, 12:02:16 »
Hello Everyone :),

This is a first for me because i don't normally like to post pictures of my work room but i have decided to go against that today and share it with you. One of the main reasons i haven't shared it with anyone before is because its in such a mess :-[. Another reason i don't like to post pictures of my work room is because its full of 'secret :shhhh:' unfinished projects. I feel that its cheating to post pictures of something thats not even close to being finished, but thats just me  I mean anyone can stack a load of parts on top of each other and call it a steam roller

This is my work room from the outside. It used to be an old coal shed untill the house was refurbished by the council in the late 80's and they changed the old coal shed into a room. As soon as we moved in i claimed it for my own and its been a work room of some sort or other ever since.

This is the sight that would immediately greet you if you attempted to navigate your way past the door. As you can see 95% of what is contained in the room is Playmobil . Its hard to imagine but i know where 90% of it is and most of it has been sorted out allthough vehicles do tend to spill out onto the floor from time to time.

A close up of the shelving reveals some old projects and quite a lot of my collection that is too fragile to store anywhere else. Anything that is not here has over spilled onto the floor or shelves in my bed room :-[

This is the second shelving unit which is home to my Ambulance service and Police force. It is more practical to have this stored downstairs because its easier to move it into the garden when i decide to do a photo story. Unfortunately i still need to trek up and down stairs for the fire engines  ;D

My last DS order was kindly sorted out by Gordon and weighed in at rather substantial 2kg . Most of the bits and pieces have been sorted out into my small storage boxes and form the basis of my Playmobil 'parts department'. Any parts that were needed for projects are scattered all over the work bench

These are some of my storage boxes which contain my supply of parts from DS. I tend to horde parts and when the next DS order comes round its usually more of the same

Here is a glimpse of what is stored underneath my work bench. Apart from boxes of spare parts there are a also a lot of vehicles stored under here that don't form part of my main collection. Most of these are used as a source of spare parts or as the basis for future projects. That's not to say there aren't a few gems hidden in there that are destined for greater things. One of my prize possessions, a Pumper Truck from the 1980's is tucked away under here waiting to be returned to use.

A few close up pictures of the pile of parts and vehicles that are stored behind where i sit. I have included these because if you look closely enough you may see some 'projects' that are in various stages of being worked on .

This is the business end of things and where most of the interesting stuff happens. I guess that's why i have saved it until last. There are lots of different projects being worked on and experiments being carried out. There are a few odds and ends in these pictures that might look familiar to a couple of our members :toot:. I wont go to much into detail about whats going on here unless asked but suffice to say a lots happening .

Finally a few pictures of things that are going on right now. I wonder what is in the boxes with the Playmobil bag on top ?

What about this on the window sill  Any ideas Gordon ? ;D

And finally quite a big project that will deffinatley get finished in the near future but what could it be ? I will post pictures if anyone guesses correctly (the vehicle at the back underneath the box with the red wheels on top)

Hello Bill,

Thank you for the feedbak. I wondered if you would find the pictures, there are a couple more since you looked last. I think you might see a few things on and around my work bench that you will find particularly interesting :yup: :toot:

Tim

Hello Jimbo,

Thank you very much for the kind reply. I am glad you found the pictures interesting. Most of my collection has been built up with tings that my parents come home with from charity shops and car boot sales.

Tim

Nice photos Tim, I feel better about my own chaos when I see that I'm not alone  ;D

Actually it looks like you keep everything relatively tidy, but ran out of storage space so it started to spill onto the floor. I have the same problem, and a lot less shelf space, so a lot more is sitting around in piles on the floor. I like the rows of Police cars and ambulances, do the crews have names?
