Playmobil UK survey parents on Christmas toys
« on: October 15, 2008, 15:40:51 »

With Christmas rapidly approaching, Playmobil are concerned about the effect of tightening purse strings on parents' toy purchasing habits.

You can read more about it here:

Brits stand strong in economic gloom

I wonder if everyone else here is fed up with reading/hearing about the "credit crunch" every time they open a newspaper, turn on the radio or watch TV. It's bad enough having to live through it without being reminded about it every 5 minutes. 8}

I'm glad parents aren't going to cut back on Christmas spending, assuming they can afford it. I just hope they aren't planning Christmas on Credit.

That's definitly on the up  :(. I've heard it say on Auntie BBC that a large group finishes paying of the X-masdebt around Mai - June only to start buying again in September  :'(. No idea how the situation is here in the Netherlands; but I doubt it will be much better ...

That article strikes a cord with me. My wife and I have foregone gifts for each other this year so that we can afford quality gifts for our son (Playmobil included). We refuse to sacrifice Christmas magic because of what's happening with money, etc.
What's the point of going, if you can't get there on a train?
