Hello, S-h!

I think (a lot) about a tavern as well.

Do you want to build the building with the tavern within? Because I have very little playmo yet, so, my tavern will be in "little Scooby Doo house style", a little common steck house by the outside, and a scenario with the tavern inside. In a way, Sylvia & friends did that, in their "Night of the Reaper" (I'll try to link this later, I'm in a bit of a hurry now ...) (DONE ;D ), in Justforklicks.

About the inside, there are good ideas around. As for me, I won't be able to make a 100% playmobil bits tavern yet, so I'll try to find things around me that I can use to make it cosy enough, but it's my style ... To make it with playmobil only, the idea above of the counter could be thought to be applied as a counter. There are a lot of playmobil bits to use ... Whatever playmo-wood board, sustained by a lot or a few barrels will make a wonderful medieval counter! I'll try to make some photos, and put them here, if necessary, but I think you get the figure ;D

Here's what I had in mind, very quickly done.

I was reading it again, and found out that Gepetto had the same idea as I did, of the barrels under the counter ... It's very natural this way.

I'd like to have had a shorter scale, but couldn't find one, and this one I can't cut ... A friend gave me ::) )

The only (main) important things I didn't have in this tavern was a shelf (like in Kate's tavern (in "Night of the Reaper", attached), for glasses and goblets ...

General view of a tavern, in Degendorf

Lonely traveller, known by some, taking his goblet of wine ...

Boldo isn't the owner ... Actually, the owner had to get out quickly,
because of sudden afairs, and asked him to take a look, while away ...

Boldo's talking with a guest, Bertram, servant of one of the princes of Tapia ...

Two Tapian foreigners, in Degendorf as well ... There's a lot of foreigners around! ... These are
one border soldier, and the Tapian Lord's main counselor ... What must they be doing in Degendorf? Hm!

A view of the counter, from above

Another general view

This instrument is usually called whenever a guest doesn't want to pay. What doesn't work out
with Boldo there, because he doesn't handle such things ... Maybe one guest or another will take profit
out of this fact ...

A couple of details, as a note

1. I forgot the mice ...

2. Tables. The more tables, according to space available, the better, for there will be as much customers as much tables you've got!

3. In certain regions of Europe, you'll wish to have more garlic, garlic all around the place; specially near doors & windows! 8}

4. Lots opf candlesticks and whatever food & drink you can get ... Kate's tavern has one of those old barrels with a (don't know the name ...), laid down on a proper support. It's a wonderful bit for a tavern, I think, because it can go even on the counter! :yup:

You seem wish to make an inside tavern, I believe. (You mentioned a "steck tavern" ...) The bigger you can make the room, the better, I believe. I like a lot the traditional Jagerhof Krone Inn ... however never put hands on one. It looks very useful, for a beginning, as a model of building.

Using a ruler as the counter is a great idea, Gus, and works very well.  Clearly, with a simple piece of wood of the right length and width the problem is solved.

Hello, Luke!

Here's the playmo wood board that I had in mind ... set 3833 (at Collectobil.com), also attached, the one being cut (however, maybe, a bit too thin (?), but even so, I think I'll use it, in the future; when I get DS working for me) ...

You put the barrels under it, it's a wonderful 100% playmo counter ... In theory. If you try it, then let us know ;)

I finally found the picture I'd talked about. It's supposed to be in 19th century Germany next to a magnificent brewery .

Still, the style could work for a medieval tavern as well .

I find the counter too broad for a counter, Playmofool ... I'd use it as a long table, in a banquet or so. As a counter in an open space, it'll do fine ... It's good in the composition she made.

Inside a tavern, on the other hand, a counter sfould be of the proper width, so as to give enough room to as many tables as possible, I think ...

Thanks, though, for bringing her pic here. It is a very beautiful (and beautifully done) composition.

I don't like the western counter to be used in a medieval tavern, Martin, but I agree that it can be though to exist in medieval times. I'd better use it in some sort of Royal (inside castle) piece of decoration, with weapons on it, or maybe in a church, with a priest at the back, and a basin of water, and some other clergic instruments (a plate with bread, a goblet of wine, one of those three candle candlesticks 8} )

To be honest, I still think that the Saloon's bar is still the best looking; allthough it's near impossible to get. I know; I've tried...
But if that's not possible, the the barrels and planks is probably the best option...

Perhaps I should try that.

MacGayver; can't you cast those bars for us  ;)
