The Colour of Gargoyles
« on: September 24, 2008, 14:27:53 »
Hi there

I recently did some workings on my harbour and couldn't decide which colour is best for the gargoyles.

So, what's your opinion?

anthracite metallic ?
golden metallic ? (original)
stone grey ?

I'd say the grey (stone) or the gold, not the anthracite metallic.  Maybe the grey would be better still with a satin finish as it looks a bit too glossy.

To tell the truth, I like them all!

The stone grey is probably the most authentic, the gold shows up well in contrast to the grey stone and also coordinates well with the window sash, but I like the anthracite best, purely on aesthetic grounds.  (Though I do hate to disagree with Gordon about anything!   :-\ )

I prefer the stone gray in that the gargoyle blends in with the building but is still a detail element. The other colors draw too much attention, but if that is the intention then the gold.

if the stronghold's captain goes for golden lamps at the walkway, he definitely would install golden gargoyles also...  :yup:

next to this I second indianna: I like them all!

had the same dilemma with Notre Dame

I optioned for the gold ones

But my building was all grey , so it was like the little ornaments dissapeared in the grey if choose grey

Did you try white ?

Think white or another hell colour would look lovely

looks like a nice Building btw  ;)

I'd say grey stone. All the outdoor gargoyles I've seen are carved from the same stone as the rest of the building, and not gilded or painted.

Indoors is another matter.
