Thanks for the very good review, LHAAP. Although the Egyptian theme, unlike the Roman one, gets nowhere near my shopping list, I'm very impressed by what Playmobil have produced, both in the detal of the sets (e.g. the working well in this one) and the detail and quality of the decoration.
From the point of view of play value, I can see why Playmobil go for the use of bases in these sets, and as the house will stand by itself, collectors' needs can also be met. The fact that the house is a single casting and cannot be joined by some sort of connector to other houses really isn't a problem as houses like this would have been detached. The missing detail that I see, and it is a big one, is the lack of an outside staircase to the roof. The roof was where people slept and access was from outside so it is a big omission, especially when you consider that they've included an outlet for smoke from the cooking fire.
