The new fire engine is almost certainly going to be based on the Unimog chassis which appeared at the end of last year/beginning of this year in the Construction theme.  It is even possible that there will be two versions of it, a pump and a rescue unit.  A new turntable ladder may follow, but I should imagine that this will be in 2010.

Another possibility is a fire brigade vehicle based on the Sprinter chassis (as used for the ambulance, DHL van and pickup truck). This could take various forms, for example, it could be a rescue unit or a control unit, or even a general purpose pickup.

Lastly, there could be a fire brigade car, in effect a fire version of the new police car.

The fire station will quite likely be a revised version of the building that came out with the new construction theme.

The new fire-fighters will be interesting - will the uniform be the same as the new Special?  Will new helmets be introduced similar to the all enclosing ones of the French fire brigade or just a revamped version of the present one?

Very difficult to imagine ... Not all specials become a later collection.

They might do a collection devoted to musketeers because they've done at least three of them, by now ...

The archer is fine, in colours (to me), compared to the tendencies of the present medieval things that have been launched. I'd love to have more realistic (if not realistic, at least ... "pleasant" (to me, & my parameters ... attached)) medieval collections, specially civilian ones, but I don't stray too much in hoping for my dreams to come true ...

& I use to make good profit of the things that are being done, right now. I intend to get a 4444 next, just after my first timbered house ;D

Let's see what comes out, however ...

I'm not convinced that the Specials you mention foreshadow a new theme.  The fire stuff is merely a continuation of the fire and town theme.  The medieval Special fits in with other medieval sets.  The musketeer Special is technically the third in the series, although there are really more if you count the cavalier Special and the 3-pack musketeer add-on package.  I really see this musketeer klickies more as companions to the princess royal palace line.  As for the barbarian Special, he fits in with the Gallic 3-pack for the Romans.

The only new Specials I see that might possibly hint at a totally new theme are the Massae Warrior (here's hoping for a Zulu War theme!) and the Cossack Warrior.  I'm not betting either will materialize, but it sure would be nice!

4th Musketeer special - 4551  4565 4627 4678. The 4611 guard would fit in niocely too, if given a different gun, his bolt action rifle and bayonet are more WW1 and WW2 era.

I haven't seen a Musketeer add-on pack, could you give me the set number?

Trivia time:
I read in a book that surveyed the evolution of warfare from 1200 to 1700, that Musketeers were originally an elite, well-paid branch of arms because muskets were big and heavy and you had to be a big guy to handle one.  The field muskets required a stand to support the barrel and it took two men to operate (one carried ammunition).

Of course, PM musketeers seem to derive from the Victor Hugo novel about swashbuckling dandies.

Amusingly, considering the impact Hugo's works have had on our culture, in his day, he was what we'd now call a pulp fiction writer, like Mario Puzo of Godfather fame, writing trashy novels for a quick sell!

The Add-On 3 Pack of musketeers is 7275.  It's somewhat rare, I believe.  I personally think the 4611 Special fits in better with the 18th century French soldiers than with the earlier musketeers.

At least 1 special will be in a new theme........

Can you tell us anything more?  I'm hoping for the Massae Warrior!

Aha, I think I have seen that before somewhere, but I was unable to get my hands on those either. Maybe I can create my own with DS orders, thanks to the parts list.

That gives us seven different musketeer uniforms Playmobil have produced then. I used to play an game called "En Garde" which had characters as members of various regimenst in the Musketeer era, I wonder how many figures Playmobil will do before exploring the theme in greater depth - or are all these musketeers really past of the Fairytale theme as Heather's database suggests?
