5840 new Target set
« on: August 02, 2008, 18:55:06 »
Thanks to Rona over at Giraffe for getting the new set.
It is a another Fantasy Knight set with a new Dragon crossed with a chicken .

As much as people hate the new knight direction i know my kids will love these type of sets. as far as playmobil is concerned - as long as they make sets that keep them in business in these difficult times i am willing to accept what they as a company feel they need to do to survive .

Thank You Playmobil
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

WOW!

Interesting set!

There will be those who will like it, and there will be those who will say blaargh!!

I believe if we understand that it isn't historic at all, we will enjoy it greatly!! :)
Nice new dragon!

I believe children in general will have no complaints! ;D

Thanks, Rasputin, for sharing it here in Playmofriends!

[Ps. Acually, to me, the only interesting part really is the different dragon ... The knights are awful, specially that one with wings :hmm:! But I believe some here will love to customize winged klickys with that ...]

Rona dropped the instructions and her photos in my mailbox last night, and since it was so small I got it all inventoried today.  I feel it's sets like this with original scenarios that really spark kids' imaginations, so I'm all for it, even if I don't get one myself.

5840 - Dragon Rock

For those who are primarily interested in the klicky wings, it seems they attach to a "non-removable" armoured collar with knobs for the purpose - non-removable to those unable to disassemble a klicky, that is; in other words, the collar won't be available separately from the klicky.  I hope they're compatible with the fairy wings :)

I like this set, it's unashamedly FANTASY and thus anything goes. I have the old dragons in red, green and black, and now there's a new style with only 2 legs and 2 wings, I'll want that one too. I hope we get a chance to buy this in the UK.

Some Target sets do appear in the UK eventually. The knights, pirates etc two figure blister packs are now appearing with their own cardboard display stands. I could have got the SWAT boat, ATV etc. in one set in Toys'R'Us if Tim hadn't already sent me the sets, though I only saw one SWAT set, with all the items, and the box was battered. I'm still glad I had Tim to get me the stuff I wanted in the right quantities.

I really love the set - allthough I don't like the inclusion of the catapult. That's a bit too much in my humble opinion. But otherwise - a definit must-have!

Hi everyone,

I found this set yesterday at a local retail chain that's quite common in the north western united states, Fred Meyer.  Anyway, they had several other sets not mentioned here that would seem to be US exclusives as well.  I was wondering if anyone else had heard of these?  They had:

2 different forestmen type knight figure sets.  One came with a klicky on horseback and a klicky on foot.  The other came with 2 klickies and one of the big bertha type cannons.

A smaller type roman arena set.  It was basically a quarter of the roman arena, with a seating area that did not include the white pillar pieces.

A new fire truck set.

And some new 2 figure packs which seemed to combine older specials.

There were a couple others that I just can't seem to remember.

If everyone hasn't heard of or seen these yet, I can drop by the store with my camera and take some pictures.  Just let me know.

I've been looking for it, in the Playmobil.de ... This is a question to me: where do these come from??

Pictures (and prices) would be great.  We have a Fred Meyers not too far away and they never seem to have any playmobil.

I actually like that new dragon a lot.  I hated the old dragon so much that I've avoided bothering to buy it.

But I agree with Heather's notion to reclassify knights produced after 2004.

The old knight stuff was "medieval theme"; the new stuff, beginning with those Starship Trooper Green Dragon Knights is more like a male-oriented version of the fairy-tale castle series.
