OMG OMG OMG!
:omg:

Yay!!! They finally did it!  :yippee:
After all these years we finally get some MERCHILDREN! :woohoo:

The new sea serpent looks awesome too. It is 3-headed, right?
Or is it only shown that way to convey movement?

I like the whole look of that new Ghost Pirate theme. 8-)

Thank you navygirl001 and Andi for all of the pics! :-*

I like the mer-family also.

The Massal warrior looks great.

The pirate ghost ship and three-headed dragon look great too.

A lot of the other stuff I'll have to see before I comment further...
What, no ghost pirate kids?

:-[i am sorry for not being as happy as you with the new wonder-sea sets.

:) i could see a new "normal" pirate set though (that's not to bad), the 4776 mitnehm piratenfelsen.

:hmm: i don´t think the owners of the "pirates of the caribbean" rights will like this new "geisterpirat" family.
maybe i am just in a bad mood but the second thing i thought when i looked at the pictures (thanks andi) was that geobra was trying to take advantage on the success of the movie.
if this is so, they are missing their timing completely.
at least lego pays to use movie's themes and they launch their sets at the right time.
the first thing i thought was that these were false pictures done by someone trying to trick us.
the more i think of it, the more i wish it would be so.

:) the new specials are o.k., specially the massai warrior (maasai would be the correct name, i think).
:) i can see that someone who likes the fairy-world would also like this "meereskonigreich" new family - it kind of has the same atmosphere.

:eh?: but the geisterpirat... i just hate it - i am sorry - and i fear this will be a dangerous and expensive (in legal fights) path for geobra.

in the past i have talked about the way lego was not able to cope with its envy of playmobil (with a superior capacity to create wonderful "worlds") and mecanoo (with a superior capacity to make mechanical-moving sets) - and how this deviated the danish company from their unique design capacities.
now, it just seems that playmobil envies lego.
:( envy, as you know, is considered a mortal sin in some cultures.
 :( together with greed...

I thought about "Pirates of the Caribbean", too, Cachalote, but in a ... 'n optimistic way.

The wonderful thing of the new kind of ship ist that, at last, there's something that LOOKS like a galleon/caravel. The design is getting to the point I'm willing, something that can be used with knights, to take Crusaders through the Mediterranean to the Holy Land, and from Venice to Napoli & around the "boot", to Sicily ...

It's a beginning, to me.

Concerning the "Atlantid" people, I think many Playmobil fans were expecting this for a long time. It's interesting to see it come, and it kind of combines with Romans, in a religious way. There's interesting stuff to think about it, to the future, in combining things.

But I'm not willing to make huge things ... After I come (ever) to get some Romans, I think I'll probably go after Egyptians ... Myth is a bit like Trains, to me: I won't invest in this. I like civil medieval life. (Pirates go fine. Romans will do. Egyptians? Interesting, because of some personal interests (History).)

But it's very interesting! New, at least. And far from last.

My thoughts

Thanks for the news, Andi!
Playmobil really decided to make NEW stuff. It's good! :)

Thanks for the photos, Andi.  Like cachalote, I am disappointed with what I see so far.  Hopefully, there will be some new modern items, especially in the fire brigade line.  (There are a couple of sentences on klickywelt I spotted which mentioned the fire brigade and one of these suggested the new fire engine would be an American styled one.  If that is true and it is the only new fire engine, then that's going to be another disappointment.)

Like cachalote, I'm also puzzled about where Playmobil is going.  To me, it's all getting rather like other products you see in the shops, and often not very well made products (I'm not thinking of Lego here).  Playmobil seems to be trying to produce expensive competitors to cheap toys!

Like Cachalote and Gordon, all I see in these Ghost Pirates is a knock of Pirates of the Carribean, but about four years too late. Other toy companies have been doing Pyrates and the like for years, why did it take Playmobil so long? The first POTC movie came out in 2003, and now the series has gone stale (I never even bothered to see the third installment).

I'll buy them of course, and with two previous Ghost Pirate specials maybe we should have seen this coming, but it's hardly a feather in Playmobil's cap, as the Egyptians are.

I like the Cossack and Massai Warrior Specials, I'll be buying several of each of those. More Zulu battles, anyone?  The Cossack appears to have a new shoulder and waist belt - there's a dagger on his back hip as well as the scimitar.

The 4684 Knight, not so good, all recycled parts from mixed themes that do not add up to an interesting figure.

The new take-along sets look interesting - I'm keen on having smaller buildings that don't fill a whole table, and these might be the ticket. The Pirate one the kid is holding is the worst of the group.

Is this the third rehash of the Wolf knight logo? Still they do look rather spiffy, each with his own wolf companion - or are the knights really werewolves? I'm guessing these will retail in the £4-6 range for most of the sets in the theme except the guy with the ugly catapault, which is ideal pocket money range.

I gree with Gordon that Playmobil appear to be apeing toys at the cheaper end of the market, and I don't think this is wise.
