Hello, Playmofriends!

I made this blog thinking about leading some friends from out of Playmofriends into my Elmo & Fletcher stories (&, somehow, I'll find a way to list the Pirates' chronicles too, as well as one you haven't yet seen, but which is planned: Fromgar & the Elf (or Fromgar & the Elves). Maybe it will serve some of you as well, who may happen to like the stories, and wish to know what's been new ... The blog will always be updated.

(Fletcher's trip Part II has been posted in the same thread of Part I, and I fear some of you may have missed it.)

(Or maybe it was very bad, so that noone found anything to say but, well, if so, it happens ...)

So, from the blog you'll may follow the news, now & again, and see whether you've lost anything without much work.

(Even because I'll only change thread when an "episode" is over. It's more economic, and makes sense (to me), as story-telling ...)

I'm reading the episodes Gus, as I can see other people are too, but waiting to see what happens next.

Each episode is quite short, so the story is progressing quite slowly. That's fine, that's your preferred style. I presumne you have a definite end in view for each story, but as we haven't go there yet, commenting now feels like interrupting the storyteller.

When I post my stories I try to reach some punch line or gag at the end, usually within ten or a dozen photos, that ends that particular tale, though many people seem to miss this joke, maybe because of language difficulties. Tim's stories usually starts out strange, rapidly progress off-the-wall, before going completely bat-[censored]-crazy.

I'm hoping to get more technically adept over time with my stuff, creating slideshows with speech bubbles and possibly background music, so the action all unfolds on one mouse click.

Also bear in mind this is quite a small circle of friends, maybe 30 active regular posters, and most people aren't creating stories - we've had a few older ones re-cycled in the last year (and very good they were too, remembering thinking of Sylvia's Home for Christmas and Gordon's rescue scene), but I think only Timotheos, you and I have posted more than two new stories or episodes each.

You could post your stories on other Playmobil sites to see if you get more response, but I think most people enjoy reading them but don't feel the need to praise or criticise.

Gus, I quite agree with Martin.  Also, many of us simply don't have as much time to spend at Playmofriends as we would like and, therefore, do not always respond to everything that interests us.  Take me, for example . . . . I enjoy dropping in when I can but Playmobil is just not as big a part of my life now as it was when my children were younger      A few years ago, however, you couldn't shut me up, as some folks here may recall.   

I always enjoy your contributions, Gus, whether comments, photos, or stories.     Your enthusiasm for Playmobil is delightful and your ability to express yourself so well in a foreign language is impressive.  Please know that your work is appreciated and enjoyed!

Like Martin, I read each episode but don't necessarily feel the need to comment on each one.  That doesn't mean I don't enjoy them and I can understand how you feel when people don't comment.  A lot of hard work goes into creating a story and it is a very personal thing, and so it's quite understandable to feel disappointed when there doesn't appear to be a lot of interest.  Maybe, though, what is important is the number of viewings rather than the number of replies.

Now I'm a bit more relieved. Specially because this is the idea and the style of Elmo & Fletcher, all right , so, it'll probably go on like this lo-ong ... (or so I hope! )

I have plans for narrative. However, if anyone would like to give ideas, this would be interesting. But things are going on, according to my possibility, because ... well, sometimes, life gets the time I'd like to be spending in Playmo ... Like last two days. (Work, "condo" meeting at night, more work ...)

Like you, I have a photostory already photographed, and my holdup is to get the text incorporated for which I need my wife's help, and we haven't had a spare evening to do it.

I'm planning to add speech bubbles and then make it into a slideshow, as there are a lot of pictures with very little text for each one.

My story features a couple of new characters, and may or may not be the start of a series.

I have other stories with Elmo & Fletcher too, so it will be a little series ... Not long, though, at least, I don't have great plans ... But there's one thing I intend to make with it, primarily, which will demand other episodes. And some thought, to the future. Lets see.

I work fine without bubbles, it's funny ... People seem to like using them. I don't, but I like some works with it. But I think it very difficult to make bubbles and make work graphcally beautiful ... "Night of the Reaper", though, (which is a parameter to me) has a beautiful work ...

But your work is quite new ... In slideshow ... "Night of the Reaper" is comic-book-like.

I have done speech bubbles before (well, my wife did it for me), but I'm not addicted to them. Sometimes they're right for the job, when each character is only saying a few words. Your characters tend to speak more, and too much speech bubble obsures the picture too much IMO.

I have done a slideshow once before - it was OK, my first attempt at a photostory, but limited to only 10 frames at the time by Photobucket's site. They've updated their site since and there appears to be no limit on the number of frames.

I also have a pirate saga brewing up, but don't want to rush into photography before I have the storyline and characters sorted out.

Hey Mate I'm a published writer who has even done book signings.

I use speech bubbles because I want this silliness to be like a comic book!

EDIT:
Speech bubbles are useful for guiding the readers eyes across the picture in the direction you want; they also provide a visual cue to the writer about how wordy he is getting. 

People are more likely to read speech bubbles than read text that is not part of the picture, especially if the text blurb is too long.  The speech bubbles are in front of their eyes as they scan the photograph whereas the text is somewhere else, often in a small, unremarkable font.
