If you look at current RidgeRoadStation prices, their MSRP is above that of Playmobil's, and after a 'discount' the prices are within a couple 10 cents of Playmobil's (I'm generalizing across the board here though).  iirc last's year's MSRP there was more in line with Playmobil's online prices?

As for opening a toy/hobby store, almost all distributors and mfg's require B&M stores - this is from experience with a friend of mine's local hobby store (R/C, trains, plastic model, etc sort of hobby store).  Keep in mind there's also MAP that they get - Minimum Advertised Price, which is below MSRP, and carries with it the intended purpose (ie, as a store you will NOT advertised below this amount - iirc 'click item to add to cart to see our TOO LOW TO ADVERTISE price' is one way around MAP).
