Famous aviatrix lands in Mesa

Howdy all.
I received this cool aviatrix from Sylvia last week.
I finally found time, and Knightmo, to post these pictures.

Sylvia certainly has outdone herself on this one. She put a lot of love into creating this beautiful figure ... :love:

Awesome! Are you going to make her a special airplane to pilot?

In particular I like the helmet and goggles, and the fur-lined coat. Wonderful!

So Sylvia sent out a historical female and received a historical female...  I sense a theme...

Hi everyone.
CountBogro I think Emelia would be correct, as the map in her hand has the
around the world route she was to take. (A very nice touch, I think, Sylvia!) :yup:

Captain Henry, I thought of making her aircraft, but it would take a bit of time.
Her Lockheed Electra would be a touch harder than the open flight compartment
types I'm used to making.

She does need something special though.

mmm ... I did take a look on the web (in searh of aircraft types - see below) and both names crop up. However, the official institutes all give the name as "Amelia Earhart"; such as this one:

She must have flown other aircraft types as well - I've found she trained in a Jenny (Curtis JN-4) and her first aircraft was a Kinner Airster both are open topped. Perhaps there's some inspiration there?

Thanks for the feedback on the custom! :D
It was quite a challenging project as I've done very little sculpting with milliput in the past. I had my doubts that I would be able to make a reasonably snug-fitting flight cap. It still appears a bit bulkier than I would have liked, but I was very pleased with the overall look of the figure once it was completed. :)

She was most definitely the inspiration! :)

The only clue I provided for Jimbo was the map showing the route planned for her final round-the-world journey in 1937.

It was a bit difficult to say goodbye to her, but I'm really glad that Jimbo liked her so much! :yup:

I'm also relieved that the klicky version of Amelia completed the air journey to the US safely. ;)

Edit: Have attached photo showing the sculpted parts before painting.
