Plasticobilism
« on: February 26, 2025, 07:28:39 »

It appears this is a gentleman who has just passed away, and who was known for doing social and political commentary with Playmobil dioramas.

This article in English has many examples of his work. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/greece-mr-plasticobilism_n_563b6937e4b0b24aee490e39 There are some edgy and challenging images, and also a number that seem to be very Greek-localised - in other words difficult for non-Greeks to understand, as they seem to refer to local affairs that outsiders won't know about. A number of the images take strong political positions.

Some pictures are also on his THAT SITE page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100044552734485 Some of these are very religious.

I think his work is very interesting. PM dioramas tend to shy away from strong commentary, and I think that's usually for the best, but the possibility is there - klickies and sets often represent real life things, and these can be combined in ways that send various messages.

He appears to have passed away rather young.

Yep, always misunderstood the artist of “challenging the narrative”

“Even the company itself, Playmobil, responded negatively. “At some point my page was blocked and I thought it was someone from Golden Dawn but it was Playmobil from Germany
,”

Got to push past the feeble minded Suppressors/censorshipers
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

I always think of Playmobil as this utopian universe where just about everything is cheerful, so I can see why the company wasn't happy about this. A shame he passed away though.
I discovered Playmobil via the Wii game in 2023.

Yeah PM's big draw is that it presents a perfectly cheerful place you can escape to - even the Confederate soldiers are smiling and happy! So breaking that isn't something to be done lightly.

I can't tell you how frequently, as a child, my Playmobil citizenry would rise up and execute their monarchs

So….

The happy police man with the happy hobo set ?

The happy hippy pushing the happy biker off the cliff set ?

The happy drunk construction workers set ?

The happy toxic waste clean up crew set ?

The happy executioner set ?

The happy bank robbers sets ?

The happy prisoner sets ?

The happy pirate slave klicky ?

The happy knights happily killing each other ?

The happy crusaders spreading their joy ?

Just because they smile, doesn’t mean they are joyful

FACTCHECK: False

“Smiling can be a natural response to stress or anxiety.”

“ A “permasmile” can make people distrust you. Body language experts noted that Hillary Clinton, early in her campaign, tended to smile her way through entire televised debates, which many viewers found off-putting”

“There’s some fascinating research that shows people in positions of power will return the smile of a subordinate, but are slower to smile at someone of equal status. Keep that in mind next time you’re in a difficult negotiation, especially if you want to be seen as an equal. Smiling too much can send someone the wrong message about whether or not to take you seriously.“

Different cultures have different interpretations about the “smile”

Some people smile after farting.
