I was also thinking that they better release the other ‘outside’ sets as well, because if they don’t, the already expensive secondary market prices are gonna get much worse, with all the new mansion reissue owners.

I wish they'd release new versions of them, since I believe I have the originals...
(my wallet FIRMLY disagrees, as usual)

I think they should package the wallpaper better. As it is, it was loose in the box, and it is extremely easy for it to get bent. Maybe they can put it in its own box. I will be buying a spare set if and when it becomes available on DS, because I am aware it gets damaged and discoloured with time. I shall also try to get spares of the curtains.

The way the flowers attach to the stems is very very annoying, they keep falling off. I think I shall glue them on using model glue.

But all in all I am very happy, and looking forward to the other sets

Interesting - this may have changed at some point in the run, but when I got it originally the wallpaper was already glued onto the walls. At least it means you can change it easily if you want it.

The outside sets are what I want really, and I'd be curious which (if any) they release, or if they do them in batches of a few a year. If they were going to do new versions of stuff, I'd have preferred it to be the furniture sets, which are pretty widely available.

I didn’t understand your last point. You’d prefer them to re-release those sets that are abundant on the secondary market rather than the rarer ones?

I meant to quote Tahra too - but I meant, if they were going to re-imagine any of the Victorian sets (so new colours or different figures etc) then I'd prefer it to be the sets where the originals are available. Which is what they've (seemingly randomly) done with the bedroom set.

With the outside sets, I'd prefer re-releases of the originals, to complete my collection

I see. Yes, I don’t mind different colours especially if they improve on the originals like they did with some of the reissues.

This morning we finished putting the mansion together. Some more thoughts:

Apparently I am not the only one having problems with the flowers. Were the original ones ABS or PVC? I suspect they were ABS which is why those stayed put while these are literally spit off the stems. Other people on FB mentioned it.

Speaking of the quality of the plastic, despite the fact that the steck pieces do look like ABS, they’re a kind of … gummy ABS if that makes sense? They don’t snap in place like old Steck did. In fact my whole attic is a bit wavy for want of a better word.

And speaking of the attic. The wallpaper goes over a number of separate roof pieces, so if you’re going to dismantle the house eventually I suggest NOT using the double sided tape to affix the wallpaper to the walls. Wedge it in instead, and then install the white window borders as in the manual, and it will keep the wallpaper in place.

And now to find my Revell model glue and get started on those flowers …

I also didn't use the tape for the attic wallpaper and for the other wallpapers I used poster putty:

Using putty is a good idea. Thing is, if I’m gonna remove the wallpaper from the walls (not the attic), it will be to replace them with new ones, so some damage won’t be the end of the world.

All in all I’m very happy though, and this reissue has certainly sucked me back in.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago with the little red candles and gold bow that are supposed to attach to this part from the 4891 Christmas Market set: the leaf base.   Using a toothpick, I dabbed a little Elmer's glue on the inside of the candles and bow and they stayed on well.  This should work unless a permanent solution is desired.  :)

Saw a post on Instagram that the problem with the flowers is that the hole in the center is too small. They said they reamed it out with a toothpick and the flowers hold fine after that.
