Given the widespread availability of these sets, it's practically guaranteed individual Dionysi will show up in the usual places.

Good point about Hades, they could make some great sets from it, Styx and Charon, Cerberus, Persephone, Hades's throne...come on Gnomes!

I WANT the three headed puppy!

So far, almost zilch for the klickys :(

Hades aside, I feel very stupid for buying those gods off of eBay. I had no idea they were new, but rather thought they were old/exclusive. Now they're on the US site for about 3.99 each!  :hissyfit:  :wall:

Oh well....at least their info cards would be in English.... Goes to show what other members said, you never know what might come to your site if you wait long enough.

The problem is you can never be sure. Sometimes good stuff never makes it over here. We did a group buy of gods a year or two ago - thanks again Daniela!  - and I don't regret it, even if I could have got them cheaper now. The point is having nice klickies, by hook or by crook!  8-)

PM do seem to be waking up to the fact that cultural sets sell, so hopefully we'll see more availability and more sets and themes of this type in general.  :prays:

... bananas are in the Argo's cargo (c'Argo?) - wildly anachronistical! ...

The science never stops! Now they've provided evidence for banana consumption in Late Bronze Age (1500-1100 BC) Canaan (Tell Erani near Megiddo)! :(o): Here's a link.

That's very interesting. However, the article suggests the banana proteins (found in the dental plaque on just one skeleton) may have come from the person eating dried banana chips, since the fruit would be unlikely to survive the journey from India in those times. So bananas on the Argo still seems unlikely.
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

also "it’s also possible the long-dead Tell Erani banana eater was a trader or seafarer who ate the fruit while traveling in Asia before dying on the shores of the Mediterranean" . Still pretty fascinating. Also makes me feel better about skipping brushing my teeth - I'm helping future historians!  :rudy:

This reminds me of the story (possibly apocryphal) of Anton van Leeuwenhoek who invented one of the first microscopes. He examined the gunk from his teeth and saw tiny moving 'animalcules'. So he got a bunch of mates round to show off his discovery, gave them hot coffee to drink, then did the trick with the tooth-gunk, but no animalcules were visible. The hot coffee had killed them off. He could have given them a sweet sherry, but the result would probably have been the same.

So, be careful about the curaçao Macky, the alcohol may destroy the interesting stuff in your plaque and render your dentition of no interest to posterity!

P.S. I am no dental hygienist, but I don't think drinking coffee, sherry or curaçao is an alternative to brushing, etc!
