Luca Parmitano, Astronaut
« on: October 03, 2019, 11:12:31 »
October's Italian edition of Playmobil Magazine will come with a klicky of Luca Parmitano, ESA/ASI astronaut now in command of the ISS.

Here you can find the official ESA announcement: https://m.esa.int/About_Us/Partnerships/Playmobil_go_above_and_beyond_with_ESA_s_Luca_Parmitano

This site https://www.primaedicola.it/playmobil-magazine-rivista.html puts the magazine at € 7.90, but I trust (and hope) it costs less in physical newsstands.

I have no experience whatsoever with group orders or shipping abroad, but ideally I'd love to procure some for fellow members should anyone be interested.

Thanks to JLMatterer for sharing the news in the Playmobil in the News thread and to tahra for suggesting I write this post.

This is an excellent find that echoes perfectly the article shared recently on this Italian Astronaut who looks like a nich chap and a very lucky one to have his own Klicky release
La, tout n'est qu'ordre et beaute, luxe, calme et volupte. L'Invitation au Voyage. Charles Baudelaire.1857.

Luckily the price is, indeed, lower than shown on the website I linked: it is sold at € 4.90. The packaging is enormous, since there is a cardboard backdrop (approximately an A3 sheet in size) which holds the magazine and the figure together.

The neighborhood newsagent said he can order virtually as many as needed, but he'd need to know how many as soon as possible.
As for the shipping, I'm trying to make sense of the Poste Italiane website.

To the US the shipping will probably cost more than the magazine and figure.
I would be very interested in having one for my space collection if you work out how to do it.

Hopefully it's a plain cardboard backing, that can be discarded with no remorse...  or shipping would be impossible, I think..

I'm sorry I can't provide an answer or a picture because he'd already sold out the few he had – I was merely relaying his description. I hardly think it is plain brown cardboard, it would most likely have some kind of illustration on it, if I had to judge from similar products sold in newsstands. Not that I'd call it invaluable either, really.

I went ahead and created a collective order thread so as not to clutter this one. https://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=17035.0

Does he wear a black head-cap or is it hair on his head?

Hm.. ESA... sadly much lacking behind the others.
Any other Space/Aeronautics-addicts here on this forum who followed the final assembly and presentation of Elon Musk´s "Starship" Mk 1 (the first prototpype of the space-vehicle that is going to be the upper-stage of a huge Saturn-V class rocket) past weeks?
First test-flights (within Earth´s atmosphere) are scheduled for in a month or 2, if there are no hiccups in the planning. Actual space-flights should follow in 2020 or 2021. If this whole project turns out to perform (well), Mars is within reach.

It's a skullcap, the guy is bald.

As for SpaceX, I do read some bits of news here and there, yet know very little about the topic. Thanks for the write-up!
