It's a shame Playmobil have abandoned the train theme.  Surely, Playmobil and LGB/Marklin could have come up with a join package of some sort?

Ich habe erst die Tage erfahren, daß es früher persönliche Freundschaften zwischen LGB und Playmobil auf Chefebene gab (beide Firmen lagen ja nicht weit voneinander entfernt - die eine links von Nürnberg, die andere rechts). Vermutlich war das damals auch der Grund für die erste Zusammenarbeit der beiden Firmen in Sachen Eisenbahn.

Just a few days ago I got to know there used to be personal friendships between LGB's and Playmobil's leading chiefs long ago as both companies used to be settled not too far away from each other (one on Nurembergs left the other on the right). Quite likely that's the reason for that old partnership.

Hobberla, schon lang nix mehr hier geschrieben. Wir (= meine Züge und ich) waren mal wieder unterwegs. Diesmal ein Modellbahntag hier in der Nachbarstadt. Mein Gartenbahnstammtisch hatte eine Riesenanlage aufgebaut, auf der auch anderthalb Playmobilzüge fuhren.

Oops, no news here for too ong a time! We (= my tranis and me) took part in a model-railway-show which took place in our area. My Gartenbahnstammtisch put up a huge layout I was able to run my trains on.

Natürlich gab's dort nicht nur schöne, große Züge, sondern auch etwas kleinere, noppigere...
- apart from great big trains some smaller, more "knobly" ones were displayed also...


Hier wurden für mich Kindheitserinnerungen wach, die hatte ich früher auch. I used to have those when at child age.


Doch inzwischen gibt's von den Dänen sogar richtig schicke Loks und Triebwagen.


But today those Scandinaviens provide some really awesome engines and railbusses too.


Die beiden Lokschuppen schauen auch ned schlecht aus!

Are the photos after the L*g* what we call O gauge?

One of the things I find really interesting is that O gauge in English (Pronounced like the letter - oh) is 0 in Germany pronounced Null (zero). That makes what we call HO (aitch-oh) halb null in German (half zero). The numerals are the original gauge names, we just alphabetized them in English for some reason, probably because we lost track of the fact they were supposed to be numbers.

Ja, das ist 1:45 oder Spur 0. Und es stimmt, das ist interessant, daß wir in Deutschland die Zahl Null sprechen (zumindest die, die sich damit auskennen), während im Englischen Sprachraum der Buchstabe O genommen wird. Ich meine aber, da die beiden anderen großen Spuren 1 und 2 heißen, daß die Version mit der Null die ursprüngliche sein dürfte. Hier ein Filmchen der Ausstellung (KLICK), bei dem ab Minute 9:27 diese Züge zu sehen sind (unsere Anlage ab ca. 14:12 - allerdings ohne meine Züge, da ich nur am Aufbautag dort sein konnte).

Yes, it's 1:45 or O gauge. And it really is interesting, that Germans use to say Zero gauge while English speakers would call it "Oh"-Gauge assuming a letter instead of a numeral. I daresay "Zero" would be the original name as the other two big gauges are labelled as 1 and 2, so clearly numbered, not "lettered". There is a film on youtube (click) showing that trains from min 9:27 (and our layout from min 14:12 though without my trains as I only could go there to set our layout up but not to enjoy the running-the-trains-for-visitors-fun).
