Really interesting big red piece

I have a feeling this might belong to a boat or a house, but not sure nor have I got it to fit into any of the sets I've built yet.

I don't know which set it's from, but pretty sure it's a roof rack for a car.  Here's a black version from Playmodb:  part 30 25 0413

I've got one of those red things! I haven't found out what it is yet. :(
 I thought roof-rack, but I haven't found what set its from...

Could it be the base of a bed? I feel those legs are very delicate... if not, I feel it could work as the base for a bed!

Maybe true: searching all parts in the DB by colour=red might track this piece down (it would be a big job!) something we users don't have the option to do. I tried several key words when I first got this part, things like 'rack' 'grid' 'holder', all to no avail.

However, there are thousands of parts not in PlaymoDB, waiting for us collectors and enthusiasts to track them down, describe and photograph them. And there are plenty which Heather has included, but the colour is unknown. I suspect this part may not be in the DB, coming from a pre-2000 set, so searching box pictures might be the best way of finding it.
