Playmobil Figure Series 10 - Lion Knight
« on: July 27, 2016, 01:18:04 »
Hi, I recently bought a few Series 10 Lion Knight, and found that if I were to extend the shield and sword; the figure would fall front-ward. But if I were to keep the shield and sword by the side of the figure; it stands up fine.
I brought this up to Playmobil, they don't think its a design error, in fact they advise that either I keep the shield/sword by the side or I attached a cape and replace with the silver neckplate.

I actually tried changing the lower pair of legs to give a bit more support; but not much use.
Next I attached a belt that has the capability to hold a sword at the back. Close to standing still but slight knock;
it would topple front.

Anyone has any ideas how to counter-balance? Thank you.

Glue a little lead weight to the back? Angle the arms slightly backward?

Klickies are top heavy, it's a design flaw.

I'm actually surprised PM don't sell a standard klickystand for display.

Welcome to Playmofriends!

Anyone has any ideas how to counter-balance? Thank you.

I recommend using stands-to-hold-Klickies-upright.

I'm actually surprised PM don't sell a standard klickystand for display.

The white and clear ones are still for sale (€ 0.30, resp. €0.31 at Playmobil.de), and the clear one is included in the Roman add-on set 6490.

Best wishes
StJohn

Interesting. They are almost entirely in the Firemen sets, which makes sense because those hoses will push a klicky over more than usual. And as I don't do the Firemen theme, I'd missed them. (Though I had one of the late 70s firemen sets back in my small times. Still remember those firehats and grey axes.)

The decision to include it in 6490 is a very strange one. The scutum shield and the Roman standard are famously good at keeping klickies upright. So why should they need stands? The Gnomes of Zirndorf once again put their cryptic thought processes on display.

They really need to upsell it. I already am formulating a special order in my mind.

Thanks for the info StJohn.

Do you mean the Series 8 Lion Knight - the green one with the claymore?

If you want to display the figure with both the sword and shield held straight out, I too would suggest the stand that the others mention.

What about positioning the sword arm straight up and twist the hand until the sword is pointing forward. This is a standard medieval fencing move known as the ox. You could also, depending on the weapon, try holding the weapon straight up so that the arm and weapon form a straight line.
