Toby Goes to Another Zoo

How do you feel about them revisiting the first zoo, Raven?

^  I think that Toby would like that one even less now!

Actually, Toby won't be going to any more zoos.  After 18 months of building zoos, I think I'm done with them!  And so, the day after Toby left this zoo, I advertised most of my zoo-specific parts for sale:



and used the money to buy new Playmobil for what I want to do next.   

So, really, the title for the next part of the Toby story is quite fitting.....


Part 12 - Towards the end of the Zoo


'Come on, Toby, why are you so slow?' asked Daddy, 'Does your leg hurt?'

'No,' said Toby, 'But I keep thinking that I can taste that nasty antiseptic.'

'Mummy has some peppermints in her bag,' said Daddy, 'Catch up with us, and you can have a peppermint to take the smell and taste away.'



'Here you are,' said Mummy, 'Now let's go and see the macaws; I've been longing to see them.'



'There are some toucans, also,' said Daddy.

'Are you sure that your leg isn't hurting too much, Toby?' asked Mummy.

'I'm fine, thank you,' said Toby.



'Let's go and see the Penguins then,' said Mummy.



'And there are bears along this way,' said Mummy.

'Daddy,' said Toby, as they passed a teddy bear stall, 'I don't suppose there are any bears to ride, are there?'

'No!' said Daddy.





'And this is a moose,' said Mummy.



'We're coming to the end of the zoo, I believe,' said Mummy, 'I think there are just beavers, wolves, and raccoons left to see.  Here are the beavers.  How interesting.'

'I want to see the wolves!' said Toby, 'Can we go and see the wolves now?'

'I think Mummy is still watching the beavers,' said Daddy.



'A Wolf Walk!' said Toby, 'That sounds exciting!'



'This is fun,' said Toby.



'And I like these raccoons,' said Toby, 'This has to be the very best zoo in the world.  We've had so much fun.  No wonder it is called The Family Fun Zoo.  Though it should be called The Greatest and Bestest Fun You Can Have In All The World Zoo.'

Daddy opened his mouth as if he was going to suggest a very different sort of name for the zoo - but then he had second thoughts, and shut it again without speaking.

Part 13 - Leaving the Zoo ... and Toby's New Idea


'It looks like the exit is through this Gift Shop,' said Daddy, 'But Toby, I have only 21 Playmolians left in my wallet, and we are going to keep that for another day.  So it is no good looking at anything for sale: you've had lots of things already today, and we are not buying anything else.'



'Oh, look at those plants!' said Mummy, 'And what beautiful green plant pots!'



'How much are those plants in the green plant pots?' Mummy asked the Cashier.

'They are 10 Playmolians each,' replied the Cashier.

'Wonderful!' said Mummy, 'I will have both of them.'



'Daddy!' called Toby, 'I know that you said I couldn't have anything more, but could I just have a little postcard as a souvenier, please?'



'How much are the postcards?' asked Daddy, in rather a miserable tone.

'1 Playmolian each,' replied the Cashier, brightly.



'So that's 21 Playmolians in total,' smiled the Cashier.

'All the rest of the money....'  sighed Daddy.



'And I hope you have all had a lovely day!' said the Cashier.

'Oh yes!' said Toby, 'It's been the Best Day of my Life!'



Back at the hotel....

'I'm going to have a shower,' said Daddy.



'Mummy,' said Toby, 'I was thinking...'

'What, darling?' asked Mummy.

'I really liked that pony ride,' said Toby, 'And so I was thinking that when we got home, maybe I could start having real riding lessons and, when I get good at it, maybe I could even have a pony of my own.'

'That's a lovely idea, Toby,' said Mummy, 'But I don't think we'll mention it to Daddy quite yet.....'

That was so good, Raven. Love all your various exhibit setups. Good job of making a lower-budget/older zoo appearance, especially with the not-so-natural primate exhibits. I think my favorite was the way you did the penguin exhibit though, really brilliant. Sorry to hear this is your last zoo!
