Part 11 - Chimps and the Children's Zoo ... and Toby needs to go to First Aid'Let's walk on,' said Daddy, 'There are ducks here. I suppose you want to feed the ducks, Toby?'
'No, Daddy,' said Toby, 'I don't think they'll be very hungry if people have been feeding them all day.'
'Then we'll go along here now, and see the chimps,' said Mummy.
'Wow!' said Toby, 'They've got their very own playpark!'
'Some of these animals are not kept in very natural environments,' said Daddy.
'Did you hear that?' said Mummy, 'That lady who was passing said it was almost time for the Chimps' Tea Party. Oh, we must go to the Chimps' Tea Party! I haven't seen one of those since I was a child! And Toby will love it!'
'That's even
less natural,' grumbled Daddy, '
And expensive, I dare say.'
'Don't upset Toby again,' warned Mummy, 'Come on, we're ALL going to see it.'
'This is
so funny!' said Toby.
'And now: the Children's Zoo!' said Mummy.
'Oh good!' said Toby, 'We've done so many exciting things, that I'd almost forgotten about the Children's Zoo!'
'It looks quite a small one,' said Mummy.
'At least we don't have to PAY to enter it,' muttered Daddy.
'Sssh!' said Mummy.
'There's pony riding!' said Toby.
'I'd love to ride a pony,' he continued.
'But I'm sure you want to see the other animals,' said Daddy, 'Look down there.'
'You'll want to go and see the goats!' Daddy said.
'No, not really,' said Toby.
'Well look,' said Daddy, 'Here are rabbits.'
'And even tortoises!' smiled Daddy.
'I'd still like to ride a pony,' said Toby.
Daddy sighed.
'How much for a pony ride?' he asked the woman at the entrance.
'10 Playmolians,' replied the woman.
Daddy looked in his wallet.
'I've only got 9 Playmolians left,' he said.
'There's an ATM right behind you,' said the Entrance Woman.
'What is Daddy doing?' asked Toby, 'Is he crying?'
'Er... he's just so happy to be giving you the opportunity of a pony ride,' said Mummy.
'Look at me, I'm on a pony!' said Toby in delight.
Mummy and Daddy weren't looking though. Mummy seemed to be hissing something at Daddy.
Toby waved to everyone he passed. Some people even waved back.
'That was so good!' said Toby when his ride had finished, 'Now can we go back and look at that little shop?'
'There are toy ponies!' said Toby, 'And I
did ride one....'
'Yes, you can have a toy pony,' said Mummy, 'Daddy will buy one for you.'
'And the pony goes gallop, gallop, gallop,' said Toby, running ahead.
'Not too fast!' called Daddy.
'WAAAARGH!
'Up you get, Toby; you're OK,' said Daddy.
'And I've got your pony,' said Mummy.
'But look,' said Mummy, 'You must have fallen onto a stone or something; you've cut your leg. I think that we had better go to First Aid and have that cleaned; you can't be too careful about bacteria with all these animals here.'
'Come in, come in!' said the nurse at First Aid.
'I'll just clean the cut,' said the nurse.
'And then I'll just spray some antiseptic on it,' she continued.
'AAAAAARGH!' shrieked Toby.
'And now for a plaster,' said the nurse.
'It's got a tiger on it!' said Toby, 'I haven't seen any tigers here yet, though.'
'No, we don't have any now,' said the nurse, 'We used to have some, but we sent them to live at another zoo, so we had room to make the Lion Safari.'
'I went on the Lion Safari twice,' said Toby, 'And I think I like lions better than tigers. But I like my tiger plaster very much, thank you.'
'In fact,' said Toby, 'It's worth falling over in order to get a tiger plaster.'
