The tray counters in the restaurant are fantastic! Really nice touch. And I love the play area, too. I had been thinking of doing the same thing, combining the water park stuff with the playground. It's quite nice, and good solution for how the slide didn't match up. Also loved all the sheep and goat poop.

But the polar bear exhibit! Fantastic! I've been wanting to accomplish an underwater viewing area but haven't had the space for a large structure. You've inspired me, though. I think I'm going to set my zoo up in small parts now so I can really put in all the details I want!

Is the orange food box of the chickens original Playmobil?

I have never seen it.

Where does it come from?  ???

The sign under the register, where they get the animal food is really great! :)

Even though the only time I had an incident at a slide it was because my mom said I'd go faster if I'd go down it on my belly. That advice did not go well with a more diagonal slide and a sandbox causing me to get a mouthfull of sand.

Your MOM had that brilliant idea?! :o

^  Great!  As you now know, it comes from the 5119 Barn With Silo.  Playmobil illustrations suggest that is used with pigs, but I think it is good with chickens too.

Also loved all the sheep and goat poop.

:)  When I went to a Children's Zoo to be molested by feed goats, I was very conscious of the amount of goat poop that I was collecting on the undersides of my shoes!  For this Children's Zoo, I originally put down round black mustard seeds as poop, which looked great .... but my dining table (on which the zoo was built) is not flat and even, and the mustard seeds kept rolling off to the edges of the enclosures.  So I (painstakingly) picked it all up, and used nigella/black onion seeds instead.  Not so great (wrong shape), but after my real-life messy experience, I really could not have goats (and sheep) without some sort of poop!

The red slide is great, but......

In a stand-alone Waterpark, attached to the lower platform, the slide touches the ground:

If you take the structure off the base, however, it is too long!

It can be attached on-base from the higher platform to a swimming pool, including an older one:

But, off the base, it is still too high to touch the ground, so therefore needs to rest on something, like a sandpit, as I used in the Play Area:

A very nice slide, but can be difficult to use in other scenes.

It will actually work better than I anticipated in what I'm thinking of doing with it... now to get 3 and the parts to make the platform...
I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)

^  I'm intrigued!!

Part 12: Off to the Ice-Cream Parlour
and: What Toby Didn't See

'Let's go and have some ice-creams now,' said Mummy.

'What's this?' said Toby, 'It says there's going to be monkeys next year.  Oh.  I would have liked to have seen monkeys today.'

What Toby Didn't See:

Toby didn't see that the Monkey World enclosures had only just been started!

What Toby Saw:

'Look!' said Toby, 'That man's got a chocolate ice-cream!  I want a chocolate ice-cream!'

'It looks a nice ice-cream parlour,' said Mummy.

'Do you want your chocolate ice-cream in a cone or in a dish, Toby?' asked Daddy.

'In a dish, please,' said Toby, 'You get more that way.'

'We'll go and get a table, 'said Mummy, 'Daddy will order the ice-creams.'

'I hope they come soon,' said Toby.

'Yippee!' said Toby, 'Lots of chocolate ice-cream!  My favourite!'

What Toby Didn't See:

The inside of the ice-cream parlour.

The staff sitting room.

And kitchen.

Later: Part 13:  More Zoo Animals
and: What Toby Didn't See

Part 13:  More Zoo Animals
and: What Toby Didn't See

'Where would you like to go now, Toby?' asked Daddy.

'Are there any more pigs?' asked Toby, 'I loved the pigs.'

'I shouldn't think there are any more pigs,' said Mummy, 'But we could see the Pandas or the Penguins.'

'Not penguins,' said Toby, 'I've seen penguins before, on that trip to the Bird Park with my school.'

What Toby Didn't See:

So Toby didn't go to see the Penguins.

The wooden door leads to the Penguin off-exhibit building.

With a Food Preparation Area.

Penguin holding.

And a Water Treatment Area downstairs.

What Toby Saw:

Instead of Penguins, Toby went to see the Pandas.

'This is a wonderful opportunity,' said Daddy, 'Not many zoos have Pandas.'

'And look!' said Daddy, 'There's a Panda Information Centre too!'

'Fascinating animals!' said Daddy.

What Toby Didn't See:

Each Panda enclosure led via a secure metal tunnel to the individual Panda's indoor off-exhibit enclosure, with a small shelter to sleep under, and access to an open-air feeding area.

Tomorrow: Part 14:  Mostly About Information Centres

Love the Penguins and Pandas exhibits!!!!

The construction site was good too, and the water filtration for the Penguins was cool.
