Collector's Pleasure -- Collector's Treasure
« on: June 08, 2007, 23:23:10 »

I photo project which I had in mind about two years and finally managed to realize it. The idea was to give an insight into what should be familiar to (probably) everybody being addicted to these little plastic figures: So you can see Playmobil items, catalogues, the collector guides, Playmobil books, for sure a lot of boxes/sets, shipping boxes, on the computer monitor my Web site's Playmobil homepage as an representative for any Playmobil-related Web site (actually I have in real live a monitor attached to my notebook so that I have a split screen which doubles display area), and finally the PlaymoFriends calendar as a hint to the board and with this to the Playmobil community. The white rabbit is a "mini-me" of one of our six real live house rabbits.

Wow, that's an amazing photo, Jochen, both in it's quality and also in its subject matter and detail.  The quantity of items all to scale, the detail in the, for example, computer screens and boxes is unbelievable.   (And do I see the simplified backdrop you spoke of making through the window?)

The curtains look very interesting - surely, Playmobil but not originally curtains?

And I've just saved the image and then looked at it on a larger scale, and there are miniatures of the Playmobil Collector on the desk top!!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind feedback  :D

(And do I see the simplified backdrop you spoke of making through the window?)

Yes and no. It's the same I used for the Trailer for the Rescue Dogs Squad story, but I'm not that satisfied with it. It's only thin cardboard and not that solid like your's seem to be. And I'm not satisfied with the shape itself; your's I think is designed a little bit more clever.  :-[

No, the curtains are orginal PM parts, the one in the windows (30 22 1360) as well as those around the window (30 24 9620).

Yes, they are. There are also miniatures of the catalogues (on the shipping box and on the floor right beside the yellow basket and you can see a miniature of Richard Unglik's World History.

I hope to start a thread this weekend with some thoughts on backdrops and some information on the ones I've made.

.

I've never seen the grey curtains before; thanks for the link.  The little white ones from 3965 I have come across before.

Yes, they are. There are also miniatures of the catalogues (on the shipping box and on the floor right beside the yellow basket and you can see a miniature of Richard Unglik's World History.

I haven't had time to look carefully at everything yet, so you must leave me some surprises.  The quality of the picture on the screen became too poor after a certain point of zooming in to see all the items, so today I will print it out at highest quality on my printer.

Thanks for all the answers, Jochen.

They are light blue (baby blue  :yup:) ...

Sorry, didn't want to spoil  :-[
I can e-mail you the photo in higher resolution if you like so you can look closer ;)
(It's about 3 MB and 3888 x 2592 pixel in size; is this ok for your mailbox?)

Don't worry, you haven't spoilt anything. :)

I think 3mb will be ok for my mailbox, just a bit slow downloading, but I can always copy and paste, so please send me it, and many thanks in advance. :)

Hello  Little Jo

I wish that my room was as tidy and well organised as yours  !!  As allways you never fail to amaze me with your attention to detail and all the small touches that add so much to the overall picture.  There is so much detail in your little Playmo boxes that i feel the urge to pick them up and look inside, you must have a great deal of patience to sit down and make them !! Oh and the rabbit is lovely, have you ever posted pictures of your real house rabbits ? I would really like to see them.

KIndest Regards  Tim

OMG ... Jochen!

You are an incredibly talented miniaturist!

You are absolutely amazing!

Sylvia is the ONLY other person that I've ever seen who can put as much detail into a Playmobil scene.

Jochen, have you ever thought about teaming up with Sylvia to do a "special event" over at Just For Kl!cks! ... ???

I think that it would be fabulous!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful imagination and creative talent with us.

All the best,
Richard

:-[ Thank you for the praise.

;D Yes, exactly she was the one who inspired me doing such setups. (I think I already told somewhere that her Coming Home for Christmas story was the reason that I rediscovered my Playmobil fondness and started doing such things.)

Hm, seems to be a good idea: making a remote-project together :D

Although I must say, I'm a little bit delayed with my personal stuff ... a little pirate customizing work, my casting tutorial ... and I still owe Sylvia the annual J4K Happy Birthday Truck photo which I should have presented already days ago ...  :-\
