Custom Animals
« on: September 09, 2015, 20:16:55 »
I decided that my little garden scene needed an extra spark, and thus I created some custom Koi fish using some of the many little fish I had laying around. I then took a take out container lid and some plastic from a plastic bag to create the pond.  I inserted push pins from the underside to hold the Koi up like they were swimming, and then covered it with a layer of plastic wrap.   It was a trial run for a larger planned pond in the future and I was happy with the results.  I'm in the process of creating additional Koi, and I saw an opportunity to improve upon their creation  :)

The Original Koi

I also decided to try my hand at an easy repaint of the Vulture to create the Andean Condor. There are not enough South American animal representatives in the Playmobil lines.  The head and feet are actually dark gray (and I got the gray a little darker than I would have liked, but I still think it turned out nice.)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)

Oh very nice, love your koi and condor! That paint color combo on the vulture-condor is great!

There's a pair at the zoo close to me and I kind of like them so it was a necessity for me to customize them.

Thank you all for the kind words.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)

Neat stuff. A South American theme would be brilliant.

Great, especially the condor. What a fantastic idea.. in my opinion are the vultures too big in comparison to klickies or the eagles but now it is a condor, 1.2- 1.3 meter long and 3+ meter wingspan! It fits!

On the background you can hear the panpipe.....I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail...(El Condor Pasa; Simon and Garfunkel)
