duo-pack: robinson crusoe & friday
« on: June 25, 2015, 14:14:40 »
:) searching for some illustrations i found an internet site totally dedicated to robinson crusoe - http://www.camden.rutgers.edu/Camden/Crusoe/Pages/NewTimeline.html
 immediately i thought on how good a duo-pack with robinson and friday would look like.
there is already a castaway set - http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/3861-pirate-island/ - but it lacks friday.
and a little extra iconography would be great - a saw, a pistol, a grass umbrella, a dog, etc.
robinson's clothes would have to be "grassy".
friday's would have to look like a west indies native from the XVIII century.

p.s. this would be a perfect release for 2019 - 300 years after the book was first released.

this would be a part of a larger duo-set "theme" dedicated to books.
;) but maybe it's easier to convince geobra to do this if they see a lego example.
playmo-figures, being bigger, have a much higher possibility to be identified and cherished as "someone" we know form a book.
it has happened in the past with the little red riding hood figure.
in my "field-of-expertise" there are some other possibilities.
ahab and queequeg (moby dick), jim and "long john" silver (treasure island)...

I thought 5138 was an excellent updating of the castaway set. It's got a couple of the extra items you want. Also at barely $13 I bought two I liked it so much. And I don't even do the Pirates theme at all.

I like this a lot. I have some of the NC Wyeth illustrations hanging on my wall at home. Other items that can be included are a canoe and a parrot, both of which feature in illustrations I have.

:) a parrot, of course.
 :) and a dog.
 :) and 2 cats.
 :) and some goats.
 :) and a pipe.

the canoe (s) i dont't know - it would be too much for a duo-blister-pack.
the larger ones - like the 5946 http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/5946-usa-soldiers-big-blister/ - are not large enough.

;D and, i don't know why, i feel this set should be a blister.

let's find a way to force playmobil into producing it.
they have the time - it would be launched in 2019 - and now they have the most important thing - the idea.
i just hope they take some time to read our forum sometimes.

they can start by selling it to some institutions to commemorarate the tricentennial.
the royal museums of greenwich - http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections/objects/14122.html - would be perfect (and they have a portrait of daniel defoe).
the hackey museum - http://museum.hackney.gov.uk/object112 - where the original tomstone of daniel defoe is.
the national portrait gallery - http://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/person/mp01230/daniel-defoe.
i am sure even the british library - after all robinsou is a book - would be interested.

as i have said in a prevoius post, geobra should hire a good seller and show potential clients all over the world how great it would be to have a special set made for them.
geobra would actually go there - not the other way around.
i'm sure there are roads and an airport somewhere near zirndorf.
travelling is one way of growing up.
