Are these real?
« on: June 12, 2015, 06:28:28 »
I found this while looking around for news of future mystery figures on google. I want to believe, and they look too good to be computer mockups, but I have a hard time believing that Playmobil would so blatantly copy Lego designs. Also, is the Wizard of Oz even in the public domain yet? This is driving me crazy. https://www.pinterest.com/mihalis1978/playmobil

No, and thank the gods. It is disgusting.

As to the wizard of Oz.. well.. I seriously doubt the rip offs playmobil pulls are public domain. Actually, I have no idea how they get away with it, but...

There are figures they SHOULD copy, imo  :P

The more I look at them I wonder are they real. I don't understand how the information would be released so early but I guess it's possible.

I cant see the pictures properly, popups keep appearing. Any chance of a different link?
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

The link shows a bunch of photos of different PM stuff. I assume elderberry was referring to the two images of Series 10 Fi?ures:

If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

Wizard of Oz - I believe the books are public domain. Not sure about the movie.

LEGO has some License for Wizard of Oz stuff in their up upcomming game so I don't think Playmobil would be able to do it.

Depends on how it's done. Given the age of the books, I imagine that the theme and figures are in the public domain. However, I think they can't be recreated to look like the figures from the movie.  Those are still licensed.
