Workshop Overhaul

At the moment I am overhauling a Playmobil electric locomotive.
At present I have done:
— Ordering a new coupling for the front bogie.
— Cleaning up the total locomotive.
— Removed the old grease and added fresh grease on the gearings and axles.
— Ordering new rubber tires.
— Cleaned up the battery holder and ordered a spare one (I can't find a battery recharger, so during playing I must be able to change batteries).
— Corrected the fitting of the body on the chassis (was little out of line, not proper build up?).

Hai!

Zerlegen ist immer einfach. Spannend wird der Zusammenbau  8}. Aber das schaut schon mal sehr gut aus!

Disassembling's the easier part. Putting things together afterwards'll be the thrilling job... . At least a good start (and a remarkebly tidy workplace)!

I shall follow this with great interest, and as Junker Jorg says, putting together is the interesting bit - I usually have some bits left over!

I always make notes, look for manuals and if necessary I make pictures (advantage of the digital age).

Great looking cleanup job. Not what our train shop looks like at all. Ours is more like a junk yard where yous looks like a tidy hospital.

Ready for the paint booth. I always find masking more complicated than airbrushing. If you overlook something, than it will be painted. Thus better check your masking before airbrushing.

The Playmobil electric locomotive is slightly based on the TRAXX family of electric locomotives in Europe. These locomotives has a red roof above the cab, and a gray roof above the engine bay. That's why I always wanted to change this on a Playmobil locomotive.

A picture of a TRAXX locomotive. As you can see the roof above the cab is red (although very dirty) and above the engine bay it is gray. Also a great picture to check the correct fitting of the current pick-ups.

De body after airbrushing. The colour gray that I took was very well chosen, because it fits the chassis almost perfectly.

— Builded up the front bogie.
— Builded up the motor bogie. I have also tested it and it runs very smoothly now.
