How do you collect, personal or commercial?

Hi, I keep seeing a commercial element to posts in here and at the pcc. It got me thinking that this is either Christmas time or a growing trend of collectors to supplement their collection budgets with sales. Are most scalpers actually fellow collectors trying to collect more?

I started out playing with it and then turned to collecting as an "grown-up" (okay, I still play  :lol: ). I haven't sold any piece of Playmobil - did consider selling off the "extras" that I somehow acquired from neighborhood kids but every time I do it, I back out with an "what if?" moment - what if I needed it in the future? Thus, any Playmobil that comes into the house is there to stay - for now.

I've kept everything, I dont think I ever will sell playmobil. At best I might give away what I dont use to kids in my enviroment if I think they'd like it.
Like figures and such.. I got a few I won't use.

I've only given stuff away or traded. Only things like doubles, accessories or giveaways that I don't use myself.

But I might one day. It's sometimes tempting to buy bargain deals which you know will catch better prices on EBay. But then the hassle of selling scares me off.

As for my own collection, so far, most of it is indispensible  ;D

I might sell something eventually. I have many sets from the golden age, small armies of knights and redcoats etc. My playmobil collection still accounts for the biggest share of my total toy collection, but it's about time i started downsizing a bit. Problem is most of it is in another country, and in any case i'm too lazy to sell on ebay, pack, dispatch etc.

I broke the streak. Sometimes I buy lots for particular parts and then end up with some I can't imagine using in the foreseeable future. Space is limited, so if I'm not keen on it, it goes.

I chose the last option but it's actually really rare for e to sell anything. I did sell off some extras prior to my last trip to Germany since I knew I would be buying while there. There's rarely such a thing as extra though. I'm always afraid I will need it some time, and I have found uses for things I never thought I would. Like the colored lanterns from the recent game. I ended up opening my game and using them in my current diorama for a booth selling lighting.

I collect primarily for myself. Sometimes I buy sets for specific pieces and then sell or trade the parts I don't need.
