My Western Soldiers first adventure
« on: December 04, 2014, 21:54:43 »
Hey wasn't entirely sure where to put these photos but, they've got a bit of a narrative to them. So this is their first taste of the big scary human world

These 3 soliders fresh out of their box had been given their first asignment to report to the nearest settlement at the other side of this stretch of woodland.

They set out cautiuosly with the scout riding out in front looking around for any potential dangers

Whilst in the carriage the lowest ranking member of the troop takes advantage of the chance to rest his feet and the 2 work horses go at a more steady pace trodding along the long straight path.

Suddenly as they're riding along they hear someone shouting to them and a cowboy rides over.

He shows them his Sherrif's badge and offers to ride with them to the next settlement at the end of the track seeing as he's going that way and it is better to travel in larger numbers in case they run into any trouble.

Little do they know that a bit further down the road is an opportunistic young Bandit hiding in the undergrowth ready to try his luck.

The Sherrif offers to ride alongside the young solider on hroseback and keep him company while he rides ahead socuting for trouble, before too long the two men get chatting and the Sherrif tells him a bit more about this strange new world.

Suddenly the Bandit rushes out "All right everyone throw down your weapons where I can see them and hand over your money"

The men take a moment to react but, they are fighting men trained to deal with much worse than this cocky bandit.

There's only one sensible thing to do, get the weapons out and charge!

When the Bandit gets a better look at his prospective victims and when faced with 2 soliders aiming their guns straight at him and another mounted solider and a Sherrif galloping full pelt towards him he thinks it might be best to make a tactical retreat!

Yeah that's it you'd better run and tell your highwaymen friends, hopefully next time you'll think twice about trying to stick up the cavalry and the lawmen

A bit further down the road they meet the next character, a strange looking fellow dressed in a simple 2 tone blue uniform with slightly off yellow hair.

Note the intruders who managed to sneak into the background of this photo  ;D ;)

Their commander goes over to meet this strangely familiar looking new arrival. Meanwhile the two lower ranking soldiers chat to the Sherrif  "What seriously you mean this guy's a really old Union soldier?!" "Yeah sure this fellas old issue, I''ll bet ya he's seen some action in his time"

So the commanding officer offered the old soldier a lift and the younger lower ranking soldier offered his seat to the old soldier and walked alongside the wagon keeping a clsoe eye on their gun. Before to long they came across a small group of native american indians about to cross the track.

Intially they're a bit weary off these Indians they've heard many tales about the Savages and their strange beliefs. the Sherrif on the other hand surpirses them by dissmounting and walking over to the Chief greeting him respectuflly and calling their commander over he introduces him to the Chief Little Klick, his family and hs friend and fellow chief from a neighbouring tribe it seems that these particular Indians are fairly friendly and have learnt to trust the Sherrif.

The chiefs young son Little Bear is very excited to see so many men in shiny bright blue uniforms and riding fine horses particulrly the scouts fine stallion he is keen to go over and stroke the horses mane and even ride the horse, his Grandmother is more nervous of these soldiers having heard many stories of the strange white men and how some of them have attacked other Indain tribes and tries to hold the child back. The soldier is surprised by this and is unsure what to do so he manages a nervous smile and waves to the child and the woman.

His friend decides that he's better off watching from a safe distance and tends to his horses which he has a great affection for.

But, of all the strange things the soldiers encountered that day there was one thing which was mcuh more strange than all the others a bunch of people all wearing strange glowing yellow jackets one of whom appeared to be boiling water in a metal kettle.

"Are you sure this is the Wild West? it sure don't look like Texas" "Wild West? who said anything about the WIild West, we're in England, in the not quite so wild midlands in South Yorkshire"

Oh yes also I found this on the site where we were working

"Ouch poor guy, don't worry little fella we'll help you"

"Don't worry this won't hurt a bit you'll soon be free onf those horrible painful metal spikes" — at Cliff Plantation, near Hangman Stone Road, Doncaster .

hat's an excellent story in all respects, Scott - storyline, photos and photographic technique, posing of figures, text and editing the number of photos to tell the story concisely and economically without photo overkill.  Hope we'll see many more from you.

That's some great pics (as usual) - especially the one of the bandit showing up, with his back "to us" :)

(Lovely intruder. And I hope Scott and comapny did manage to rescue those poor guys!)
