After receiving a gift certificate from the place I did volunteers work for over a year, I decided to spend it in a fitting way. It's a toy loan store which sadly had to close down due to lack of business.
With the new medieval sets in stores, I just could not resist.
Let's start with 6160: Dwarven treasure.
There are quite a lot of items in here, to me treasury stuff is always usefull. There's even two sets of coins here, usually we only get a single set for big treasure chests which kind of bothers me.
Quite some storage too. A big chest, two small ones and a pedestal.
Personly I'm quite happy with the axe since I only had one of those, and I believe its the first time that halberd is dark metal?
Here is everything fully set up.
The treasure chest fills up nicely with all the coins, the gold nuggets and the two crowns. Also great that its in the new shiny gold from recent years.
The dwarf guard seems quite versatile. I might change his hair a bit since that mustache keeps sliding down a bit which can be seen here. I did not notice it when taking the picture.
But why guard a treasure instead of claim it for yourself?
The red rubies seem new, and are nice new parts for any treasury. Also interesting to see the classic treasure chest make a return. In this color it could be great for a sunken treasure at the bottom of a lake.
The lights are nice, I do have a picture of them on later.
Moving on to 6004: dwarves getting trolled.
It's a nice set, the troll's colors look a lot better than expected. Also that warhammer is a great new weapon and the grey dwarf is beautifull. Other dwarf is kind of meh due to the armor attached to his arms.. now he can't really be used as a civilian. But it does look nice combined with the chest armor. A shame he has that awfull beard but I gues it does not look that bad on a fat dwarf.
Seems my set came with an extra dagger. Always nice since this model is not used that much.
And here is the set fully assembled.
While I usually do not like the helmet the grey dwarf wears, it somehow seems to work a lot better for dwarves. While I dont think those dwarves can hold that big troll, I am sure these chains could just as well be used to chain him to a wall if theres a clip on it that can hold something.
I must say that I really like the troll. Sadly his neck armor cant be removed without breaking it, and he cannot turn his head to look left or right. He can tilt it a bit though, and his arms and wrists have great movement. His legs cannot move. It's a shame he can't sit.
Also, his feet are sadly like this.
But still, I can really recommend the troll for anyone who wants to dabble with fantasy. He is very much the classic image of a troll.
