That's a great story, Birdie, with a good build up, great photos and captions and excitement all the way.  The start sequence from 3 to GO! is superb, especially the shot over Meg's shoulder at 1.  Overall, a good, taut, short and to the point well thought out photo story, with every frame adding to the story and nothing unnecessary.

Awesome pics, great story!

I admit I had to look for your avatars - didn't see them the first time around :-[

The pics of the (final) countdown are indeed grea brilliant - the second is my favorite of those, with the street stretching on and on.

The puzzled look on the cat (how did you manage THAT?!) looking on while they are working on the car (another great pic) is priceless.

There is one thing that bothered me - all the kids in hats in class. My teachers would never have allowed that! At least not any of the ones worth the name (had a few.... duds :P )

Thank you all very much for your encouraging comments. I'm really, really happy you liked it!

The speech bubbles were well positioned, as were the various other "effects", such as the whoosh of the cars racing down the hill and the impact of Meg hitting the ground after swerving to avoid the dog.

I'm sure there must be more (and better) free, downloadable stuff out there, as far as sound effects and comic book fonts go. I'm planning to look into that. Those effects really make a story come to life, I love how Lynx does them in his The Story of Randolph

Just as Raven I like the "cars" and the "baah" comments of the baby sister.

Do you happen to know Spirou (Robbedoes), the Belgian comic series? There are comics of him as a toddler (Le Petit Spirou), and the sound effects in those stories are hilarious.

And actually... the baby in this story is a boy

Overall, a good, taut, short and to the point well thought out photo story, with every frame adding to the story and nothing unnecessary.

That's good to hear, because I was worried about that while I was making pictures. At first I thought about doing this photo story without any dialogues or text at all, so I tried to make sure every frame would speak for itself.

The puzzled look on the cat (how did you manage THAT?!) looking on while they are working on the car (another great pic) is priceless.

No you see, I took the picture with the cat watching, and while doing the dialogues I just noticed his expression. I swear he did it by himself  :)

There is one thing that bothered me - all the kids in hats in class. My teachers would never have allowed that! At least not any of the ones worth the name (had a few.... duds :P )

Yeah, the hats, and the bonnets, I know   As a teacher I don't allow caps or hats in class either. You know how everyone customizes the adult clickies? I have a history of customizing the children, so the hats have become part of the outfit.

I feel so sorry for Meg. If it hadn't been for the dog (and rat) she would have won the race. At least she got the flowers...

Such a lovely story with beautiful pictures. The caracters really come to life. Very well done.
It was mentioned before buth the comments and other effects are brilliant. Really enjoyed it!

It's an amazing shot. MORE amazing cause WE know the cat doesn't really move (much)!

Well, it is a moot point in playmoworld - what I said, I mean. What does make a klicky? To us, first the neckware (that was not removed lightly! Still isn't, in the named ones!), then their hats! It IS part of their identity. How else can we tell them apart?

Great story and overall effects well positoned, you've managed to get soem great shots and I really liked the actually race setutp particularly doing the 3-2-1 shots each at different angles. Meg is really cute particularly her realationship with Nathan so nice to see that he turned up and was clearly keen to watch the race and that after her accident he cared enoguh to bring her flowers, hope she wans't hurt to bad. I liked the little duck in her bedroom and the shot of her working on the car with her Dad with  the cats puzzled expression as well, I've got to admit I also thought the baby was little girl generally speaking I think that hairstyle does look more like you'd expect to see with a little girl where as the other hairstyle is like a tiny verison of the classic boys

I think I'll do a Zoo next.

Cool! Can't wait to see it. I'm wanting to do another zoo dio soon too, but now I think I'll wait for a couple of new animals first. I currently have a state fair dio set up which I'll post pics of once I get a couple more rides, and then Chris and I have another joint project we're going to do.

Thank you Sunflower!  :)

Don't feel bad for Meg, she's in the paper and everything  ;D

Thanks DrDralek  ;D  I still prefer the oldest style babies, from back when that was the only way they could look.

Please do, I've been looking forward to that one  :)  I've been trying to get Mitri to do a photo for the photo contest, but he's worried he won't find anything in the huge pile of boxes spread around the house. He's got a point  :-[

I also thought I should maybe wait for the new animals and the new zoo, but then I thought there's always a reason to postpone. I'm thinking of possibilities for water - I know there's a topic about it on the forum somewhere...

Great story and excellent photography! You did a great job in putting it in cartoon style. And you have a good eye for detail. And i love the way you were creative with the fences to fence of the public from the street.
