7128 assorted figures
« on: August 06, 2014, 15:23:13 »
It must be 17 years since I bought a set of assorted figures from DS and, although the picture in the catalogue hasn't changed, I understand the figures have.  Has any bought any recently, say the past two years, and, if so, what figures were in the assortment?

I made the mistake of getting that, cause I THOUGHT it wasn't what was on the pic. It was.

Looking... Ordered in December 2011.

(sorry, guess that is out of the "two years")

They are still the same figures that are in the picture Gordon....at least they were back in May when I was at the Zirndorf Funpark.

I often wonder if Geobra have vast surplus stacks of certain figures or parts, perhaps from over-estimating the demand. I suspect they dispose of them by trying to flog them through DS, either sneaking them into a respectable set (7128 is a case in point- why is there a figure with a male torso and female hair unless they couldn't get rid of them any other way?) or by actually using the surplus as the basis of a new set. So, the baseplate for 3136 the Police Superset (aka Footprints in the Plasticene) 3136 - Police Superset was recycled as 7494 Forest Ranger (aka Meet Interesting Wildlife and Shoot It) 7494 - Forest Ranger. There are loads of examples like this, most of which I can't remember at the moment...
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

And that theory does sound probable. Or it might just be so they can re-use a certain mold, get more worth out of it before chucking it out?
