5736 pirate ship in UK
« on: March 23, 2007, 18:50:24 »
I called in at the local toyshop to see if the new rescue helicopter was in yet (it was but not on display as it had only just arrived, but the owner went next door and opened up the stockroom and got one out for me - a review will follow soon I hope) and in the shop I noticed the 5736 pirate ship which doesn't appear in the UK catalogue for 2007.  Price was £24.99.

That wasn't around for long then.

It was released here in the UK last May you will find it in the 2006 catalogue, I'm sure I paid £29.99 from Playmobil UK last year for it.

It was obviously not very popular with Pirate fans and possibly poor sales In the US drove it into the European market whilst stocks lasted.

I was surprised when I opened mine and found that the mini cat inside the box was dated 2003, so it had spent 3 years in that large playmo warehouse before it was sent out to me.

i was wondering if the u.s. and european versions are the same.
 ???
sometimes there have slight differences - different figures usually.
i used to hate this but then i complated my 3750 boat with the america crew and gor very happy with it - a crowded boat is always nicer.

The 5736 in Europe is exactly the same set as the one in the US. (I bought them over the Atlantic, as well as here).
In Belgium the box also has 5736 as set-n°, while in Germany it got set-n° 4424. The same was done with the Pirate-treasure chest: everywhere it has set-n° 5737, except in Germany... there it is 4432. Can't think of a good reason for different numbers just for Germany... ???

btw: 5736 is already discontinued here ('limited release') and isn't mentioned anymore in the new (Belgian) catalogue for 2007,
but a few weeks ago it suddenly reappeared on the Belgian PM-webpage...
they probably still have left-overs in stock, and are offering it to fill in the gap between the discontinuation of the 3940 flagship late last year and the release of the new 4290 in october...

A new pirate treasure chest was mentioned on the official US-playmobil website last year... so people thought it would have been part of Target's Pirate sets for 2006, but we haven't seen it... mabye it was a mistake on the website.

thanks mon capitaine.
i now rest assured.
i guess waiting for september fot the new pirate sets makes me nervous about the ones i already have.
i can now concentrate my efforts on buying the us 5778 ship - the only one i am really missing.
