... and there is strange things on this site.

For example, yesterday our site www.playmoboys.com were 9th and today 82th  ???

Something 's really strange isn't it ?

 All you need are a few "one star" votes and your position drops like a rock!

As I said in an earlier post, "... whoever set up Playmobeach certainly must have a lot of courage to create a site that has the potential to generate hurt feelings, induce anger and disappointment as well as invite a lot of criticism."

However, they are generating a lot of activity and interest (just count the number of votes posted).

Playmobeach doesn't provide a useful database like Heather's site, or an illustrated catalog of Playmobil sets like Bart's site, or a fun place to meet and discuss our hobby like Sylvia's site. So, what do they really contribute to the Playmobil community?

A bunch of links? Collectobil has most of those links. And, hosts them WITHOUT BIAS!

Does Playmobeach have any real value for any of us?

What draws us (like a magnet) to such a site?

Perhaps we are all like a bunch of moths looking for a warm light. But, everyone knows what that "warm light" does to the moths ...

The only time I bother to look at that site is when someone posts a reply to this topic and mentions something odd about the ratings. ;D

I was happy to see that PlaymoFriends and JustForKl!cks had been included simply from a promotional point of view rather than hoping to get a high rating. And I expect many of the other site-owners on that page feel the same way. ;)

I noticed that some fan-sites and forums are asking people to visit Playmobeach and vote for them, but I don't really see the point. :hmm:

Richard, you are having a good point here.
Competition spoils it all. We are all spoiled.

But on the other hand, the idea of a voting system is good. that way you can see which pages are the popular ones and a page that is only a zombie with contents changed the last time three years ago will slowly drop lower.
obviously, there is almost not a single page that is of such a holy content that people are refusing to mark it down, just to get their own favourites up... too bad.
Give it a time. if people get used to it, they will start to vote more unbiased and then there will be a real order of favourites maybe spreading more significant from 2 to 4. :)
 :yup:

You have to see things positively. divide the number of votes given for each page by 2 and you have a rough estimate of the people that really prefer your page. so thats good news, or what? :)  :yup:
