Straight black hair - without 'knob'

The hair on this Series 5 Native American Girl (I believe it's also on the Island Girl as well) - does it come without the 'knob' bit for holding the feather /flower?

Nope, they are the same, with the "knob bit"

Didn't try to remove it, though it doesn't LOOK hard..
