I like only the first version.I had bought the first one but with the addition of 3 wise men in the same box,about 25 euros before 4-5 years.

They probably would have had what looks sort of like a genie lamp, for lack of a better way to describe it.

Yes, in fact that's what I put out with them last Christmas, a gold one from some treasure pack. It would be difficult to light though.

I wish they'd stop putting the only gorgeous peasants available in the same repeating set ...[rant continues]

In my planned "collectors department" of PM, almost everything would be direct service individual parts.

Here's something funny: when I put "chuck piston" into Goog translate ENG>GER, I get "Futterkolben". But when I put "Futterkolben" back GER>ENG, I get...."butt feed". !!!!!!

Exactly, like a teapot with a flame. I've only seen the genie lamp in gold though, which is quite absurd for a carpenter's lamp. I'd be okay with a plastic flame. Battery-operated things just raise the price.
I'm glad the angel is a brunette. I already have a bunch of blond angels. All in all, I do like this 3rd version much better than the 2nd, which I passed over.

It would be nice if we could buy the figures separately. With all the shepherds and Josephs, we'd be halfway to having the 12 apostles.  :lol:

On the subject of "chuck pistons": I realized as I was playing dinosaurs this evening that I already have one of these parts! It came in a dinosaur set, as part of an imaginary prehistoric plant. I snapped a couple of pics of the part.

Sorry it's a bit fuzzy. Anyway, it could be a corn cob but it really could be another kind of head of grain, too, like barley or wheat. It's pretty ambiguous. So perhaps not an anachronism. But it still doesn't explain why it is a chuck piston or butt feed. :lol:

I'll need some major capital to pitch the idea to PM, so message me for info on how to transfer funds to my war chest.

Thanks for that clear picture of the butt feed. I am going to call it barley or something to preserve my sense of historical appropriateness. And I think I'll look for a good LED light that stays on for more than 5 minutes because I like having the nativity lit up at night.

Compared to the 1st and 2nd versions of the Nativity set, it seems this time they've left out some more useful parts;
the cooking kettle and the sticks to hang it over the campfire are missing...

Yeah but that was unrealistic. Mary and Joseph wouldn't have had a giant pot like that.

Why unrealistic? Shouldn't they be able to prepare some food, or at least cook water? I'd think hot (cooked)water might come handy when giving birth in a an animal shelter..

They were poor and had to put up in a stable. How could they afford a giant metal pot? That's something the Roman Army would have, not a couple of villagers. Mary and Joseph would have cooked some flatbread on a hot stone.
