Playmobil Christmas!
« on: December 26, 2013, 13:38:15 »
Well Santa was very good to my son yesterday morning when we woke up to a tree full of gigantic boxes under the tree. A little bit of everything to fill his playing needs.

So the first thing we set to putting together was the police station. The number 1 thing he absolutely wanted. I wanted to do it Christmas night that way it was together when he woke up, but everyone kept telling me to leave it. Out of the box it looked horribly complicated. But I ended up putting it together in about 2 hours *facepalm* then the truck. He also got a police car and the museum robbers to go with it from family. Now Im working on the castle tower. Ugh. lol

Wonderful!  Are you up for adopting a 63 year old kid?

The airplane and the police station I got BOGO at Toys R Us, as well as the boat and the dino set. The police truck came from a really good friend of mine, and the Santa House on sale for 50% off at Thanksgiving and the castle I got for $8 with some returns at Kohls. So LUCKILY, I didnt actually have to spend THAT much on it all. About 250 which I thought was fairly reasonable. Although, Id still love to get the little airport terminal and the cargo truck for his airport set. Oh well.

He absolutely adores the airplane and the police station. The castle not so much. I think hes still a little to young to appreciate knights and castles and fighting (hes 4) lol. Been building since 8am. Got the airplane, the castle, and the long necks built and out of box. Working on Santa House now. lol.

That plane has been bugging me ever since I saw it. I really want to add it to our collection soon. We have not added it yet due to the $100 price since it comes with the controll tower. We really do not need a 10th controll tower but that plane looks great. I really like how the front opens to load freight. I still have not figured out the BOGO sales and how, when they work.

Our boys only got really interested in Knights when they were around 8 so perhaps you have some time for it to grow on him. When they were younger they took all the dragons and gold and used it with the modern world stuff. We now only built big castles where they wanted to fit it with properly armed knights, kings, princes, queens and slaves. For what ever reason they really are interested in slaves and who has the most  :hmm:  Geobra needs a proper medieval peasants and slave add-on set

That is a very cute picture of your son and his new plane  0)

The plane is awesome. Its built very well, the only problem is that he sometimes puts his weight on the top of it when hes driving it around and the wheels fall off really easily and are hard for him to put back on, so Ive been doing it. Other then that hes been flying it around the house all morning. And that sucker is HUGE! He has to carry it with two hands or under his arm because its almost as big as him! Very sturdy and well built (aside from the wheels) and hes been having a blast. If hes still interested in this set next year, Ill probably get him the airport terminal and 6300 and the cargo 5262 with the little vehicle and the passengers. I think he'd like them.

I also just got together the little speedboat (4862) and of course, kiddo wanted to immediately take a bath with it. With the motor on that thing that little sucker flies in the tub! To bad the tub wasnt bigger haha. I think the big camping set will go nicely with that and the camper van and summer home he has for next year as well.

Im thinking the castle stuff will take awhile. And personally, I like all the more modern sets. If I can find one on Ebay, Id love to get the hospital for him to go with his ambulance. Or maybe the school house. But so far the more modern sets are a much bigger hit. I wish we would have found Playmobil before the construction sets got discontinued. He would have LOVED those, and they are atrociously priced on Ebay now.

BOGO sets at TRU. Buy one get one half off. I dont know when they do it, how often, but I look often enough to where I can usually find them, normally on Holidays. I got lucky to get the summer home and camper van last year on BOGO. And this year got the Police Station ($100), airplane (BOGO $50), the Longneck Dinos ($50) and the boat (BOGO $10). The PS and Airplane I got at Back to School BOGO, the other 2 for Christmas BOGO.

Finally done putting it all together! Now to throw away the boxes and find a place in his room for it all haha.

That police station looks beautifull, I'd love such a set but really need to stick to medieval and pirates for space reasons.  :(
