Nice review, I did a review of it quite some time ago, but it was just two pictures. One to show all the content and the other to demonstrate the hammock works well with the island of the shipwrecked pirate.

Where's the snow on the ground?!

(it's -40 here ...)

I noticed the pirate in the Advent calendar has black and white stripes on his shirt.  Yet, he has yellow shirt sleeves and yellow on the lower back of his shirt.   ::)  Looks rather odd, yet it's obviously intentional.

Brr that does sounds very cold   :(:flake: hope you've got loads of warm clothes on  ;) I agree about the Pirate it is weird to have the front stripey and the sleeves and back yellow yet in a strange way I think that it works well.

Cheers I'm gald you like it I'm looking forward to opening the hammock on Wednesday hope you enjoy the rest of the days as there's still plenty to come  ;). starting with  the weekends offerings ...

First we got what looks liek a telescope which should be handy

and a ladle and loudspeaker which are probably going to be less useful I'd imagine  :eh?: I mean why would Castaway Pirates need a loudspeaker who are they going to shout to on a desert island unless they intend to deafent he zombie of the island, and a ladle? surely to use that they need a stew pot or something which I don't think comes in this set I mean they nlook alright but, just not sure hwo sueful they are for this set.

The next day is more promising than the photo on the box would suggest a loaf of bread and a nice apple with good printing although it does look a bit of a small apple. Also got some myserious little barrels the red colour might suggest they contain gunpowder although who knows it could be rations or small barrels of booze

Although the Castaway child thought they'd be much better used as some nice drums  ;D

And todays offering I was very pleased to open up a rather nice palm tree perfect for resting under its shady branches for a snooze after a good mug of ale  or alternatively ...

It provides a rather good place to practise your climbing skills if you can make it up the trunk perfect palce to keep lookout from the top as well  ;)

Nice to see your pirates being happy with all the new stuff, though please tell those kids not to use gunpowder barrels as drums!  :0

Thanks for the nice review.

Imho, one of the less tasteful sets in the Pirates Theme though (when compared with the catalogue-range, not with some bad-taste US-exclusives from the lastest years).

He got probably designed on a late friday-afternoon or an early monday-morning... 8}

It looks like they wanted to provide us with a kind of updated version of some pirates from the early '90s, but they should have chosen their colour-mix more wisely.
The shirt is indeed completely ridiculous, being white with black stripes on the front and yellow on the sides and back...  :wall:
They could have given him ragged sleeves as well (or the short-wide "egyptian-style" ones) as in other recent pirates' sets, instead of modern-look short T-shirt sleeves.
The black ragged pants are a useful part though, as sofar they only came black, ragged and barefeeted (in a light skincolour) with the Funpark's give-away pirate "Rico" (which was also available as a US-exclusive, I believe...)
Ragged red vest is also a useful part.
So, to me he is just a parts-provider for customizing.

And the pirate-kid indeed looks just like he came from a Citylife Theme vacation/beach-set, not a pirate at all.

  :o Ah I thought they might be gunpowder based on the red colour  :-[ will ask the Pirates to keep the abrrels out of harms way where the kids can't play with them that way no boom boom  ;)

Thanks for the nice review.

Hm well as I said I like the Pirate nice courful design and friendly face like the raggedy clothes one thing which doens't make sense with my other Pirates they've got bare feet but, neat trousers? in real life I don't think so but, now that you've pointed it out you make a good point some raggedy or upturned sleeves would make the Pirate look better. As you say there's nothing really Piratey about the kid unless he's just some modern kid who got whisked from his bed into a Pirate adventure like in all these kids book a little eye patch or sword belt printed on or I don't know a bandanna or little toy wepaon would make hime look much more piratey.

Anyway back to the review and yesterdays box yielded a raggedy flag for the Pirate boat

And today well the hammock will be much appreciated but, how can I put it  :eh?: there's just something missing

Have now assembled it onto the carboard settup but, since I don't get back before dark during the week will have to wait until the weekend for photos of it settup at home

More from the Pirates and Thursday yielded fire most welcome indeed to provide some warmth and light

A few photos to show some more of the Island as it's developing more and more with the Pirates treasures from the Advent Calendar

The hammock works well when used with the Island nice and relaxing

The clfifs make a good spot to keep lookout over the whole island

I saw on the box that there's a reason the wave has a hole in it so you can make the bottle with the message in look as though it's being wahsed in on  the waves

The kids found Fridays haul fish bones plus a starfish which came with the 2 brown haired kids  ...

They also found the other part of Fridays surprise a skull, and one of the boys had plans to cause some mischeif ...

"Boo!" "Ahh! what the heck!"

Whoever said being a Pirate was easy clearly hasn't had the pleasure of looking after kids  >:(

Moving on they liked Saturdays box finally some treasure  :captain: :arrr:

They weren't so sure about Sundays box

Personally I like it the snake's good and I really love the spider such a good design and well I just think he's quite a cool little spider can have loads of fun with him

They really didn't like Mondays surprise  :o "Ahh what the heck's that doing in there!" "I don't know if we'll ever get off this island now that I've seen that"

Although one of the kids thought fidning a skeleton was quite cool I eman what's all the fuss about, again personally I quite like him I think he looks really good particularly those feet  ;D and it's good that you can take him apart just a pity the way he's built and the way normal figures are built you can't interchange them to give a figure a skeleton head or make a proper skeleton pirate still I'm pleased with him
