putting some klickies/themes away
« on: November 18, 2013, 10:03:36 »
I'm not sure how long they'll be inside these transparent boxes...and I dont know if I have the energy to display them again...one thing's for sure at this moment...I've take down many shelves and am quite happy with the space I've freed up and the room looks less cluttered now  :)

Making space and reducing clutter comes to us all, cheng, sooner or later Diane keeps telling me.

the scary thought, Gordon, is whether I'll continue to lose interest until PM becomes another Lego to me :o :'( after so much time and money
...maybe that's also why we dont see many of those who were once very active on playmoboard (unless they're still on the other language forums :P)

Yes, it does seem that most people do eventually either lose interest altogether, or at least become a lot less obsessed. Cheng, I can't believe how organized your klickies are even in storage!

I cycle my Playmobil displays, due to lack of flat surface space. It works.

Very organised at least you can still see them and it does keep them tidy

Unfortunately it does seem to ahppen to me that you have a long period of really active interest in one series or hobby or whatever which in the long run you can't sustain and which eventually gets overtaken by something else for example Action Man by Playmobil or Thunderbirds just generally taking a back seat to other stuff like Spiderman and Doctor Who. It certainly doesn't mean you don't have the interest or at elast not for me cause I still love all of those things it's just that it's hard certainly for me to concentrate my efforts on more than one thing so certain things have to take a back seat that's why I 'm trying to concentrate primarily on getting as many bits and figures put together for my mini Carbon Army while I'm still very actively interested in this and while it's what I want to spend money on before something else takes over.

As for shelf space with a small bedroom like mine shelf space is at a premium the Action Men have long been sqeezing ever closer together and the Klickies are also having share space more and more and invade other areas of the shelves on top of books in front of bigger figures and this is with Action Men hanging from the ceiling  8}

I used to have space on my PM shelves for trees and diorama...but now there's only standing room...and almost the only historical klickies not standing in neat rows are my cowboys and indians...we know we have reached this stage when we start to see our kickies falling over like dominos ;D

 Made me laugh with them all dominoeing over always frustrating a true sign of a lack of space.

Wouldn't say I've got mucb to form dioramas certainly nothing bigger that a shrub which would go on the shelf (not counting my few bigger vehicles which remain out of Mum's sight  ;)  :P) the main thing  is a little pond I've done by painting some air dry clay to look like rocks and using some blue tracing paper for water, and I've incorporated a bench, some plants and a skating ramp on one side but, I've managed to get plnety of Klickies plus a boat, 2 ducks, and  a dog around that area. The rest of it is mainly as I say people crowding in normally grouping like themes together but, trying to make it look as realistic as possible so working the medieveal guys around the 2 guys coming in on horseback so the more lowly guys look like they're interacting with each other whilst on guard or in the middle of doing their duties, the few woodland animals interacting with the friendly archer and some of the Knights watching a Sword In The Stone scene like in Arthurian legend.

I really hope you don't loose your interest in Playmo, Cheng.
It would be a great miss not to see more creations from you!

we dont see many of those who were once very active on playmoboard

I guess I'm one of the few fanatics too then   ;)

Resistance is futile, you will be boarded!

hey DrD, that's what I did (making dioramas) when I started....then slowly added a 3-on-3 basketball corner (ended up with >6 players) and a couple of modern what-do-you-call-those-equestrian-people....then a small group of motorcycle enthusiasts...then a 'few' fussballers...and skatboarders...until the park became a 'partyroom'

and Hadoque...I'll be hanging around....waiting for new parts for new ideas from new Fi?ures...when I migrate to WW2...thats when I've lost interest in (older & more colourful) historical themes...its as scary as having to retire one day, what am I going to do next?! :'(
so if Geobra is listening....how about a trenchcoat? a kilt? ;D
